A buddy of mine has a general repair shop. Big shop, very successful. But he is not a fabricator, so when he gets those type of jobs, he sends them my way.

Last week he called, and said he had a couple jobs for me to look at, so I went down to his shop.

The first one was a 35 Ford pickup, nicely done street rod with a 5.0, AOD, 8.8 rear out of a Mustang, EFI and all. The only problem, the throttle pedal is all the way to the left, and the brake is to the right. I told him I could take care of it. He had some little stuff to do on it, so he said he would call when it was ready to come here.

This afternoon he called, wants me to do it Monday. While test driving it today, he pulled into his drive, went to stop, hit the left pedal, and drove it through the shop door. No serious damage to the truck, but the door is toast.

I told him I would do it monday, but he has to drive it over here. And to let me know when he was coming, so I could have the door open.

The other job is a 57 Chevy truck, with a Camaro subframe, that has just about the worst subframe job I have seen. I met with the owner tuesday, and told him I would not touch it, unless I did it over completely, and that unless it was done over, it was not safe to sit in,let alone drive. I would tell you what was done to it, but you would not believe me. Wait until I take pictures.

So this means you got the job of making it right? Boy when I was looking for my cpe I saw a lot of horrible sub-framed cars. Those certainly show why so many are against subbing a car
Some days it\'s not worth chewing through the restraints.

Yes, I get to make it right. Just as an example, the front of the engine is offset 1" to the right, and the back of the trans is offset 1" to the left.  Then the engine is angled down about 10 degrees in the front. there is a PTO Ujoint in the steering shaft, and if you peel back the seal on the back of the trans, you can see the end of the yoke.  The rest is not up to that quality level.

Was there some kind of disability involved as a reason for the pedal switch?

I found out today, that the original owner  did not have a right leg. Now it makes more sense.

Makes good sense. I like the story about the guy driving through the door, though.

No sweat. Tell your buddy to rest his right foot on the trans hump and use his left foot for everything. Problem solved.
