Your opinions please.... Kinda long post

Ok heres the deal ive been thinking about this all day yesterday and just this morning i really got *...

As some of you may know from reading my posts over the last year or so I took my harley to a local independant shop that a real good friend of mine is part owner to get it fixed after the wreck we had.. Well late last summer i got it back but it didnt have all the parts replaced yet and they ordered ultra stuff instead of glide classic stuff so we had to make a decision if i wanted to ride or not.. I chose to go with the ultra paint set . one reason was i wanted to add rear speakers for Sue and the tour pack was set up for that and had the extra lighting that the ultra's have. a safety plus i reckoned. Well as they were installing the new gas tank they dropped something on it and chipped the tank so they had to order a new one.. Ok so here we are a few weeks ago.. They called and said they had everything but the liner for the tour pack and wanted to finish my bike. Ok but while they were at it i wanted a price on new tires as i dont trust the dunlops that were on it from the factory and sue and I reasoned for a little over 400 bucks even if it was just feeling safer that was the way to go cause we really like to ride.. They called me to come look at the bike last week and i did.. They have no room and it was packed in with a dozen other bikes and i really wanted to look at the electra glide emblems they installed on the front fender cause ultra's have emblems therefore we had holes to cover.. It looked pretty good but of course it was dirty (i forgot to mention the first time last summer when i got it back i spent 3 days detailing) so i figured id just detail it myself.. Ok yesterday im cleaning away and get to the right rear and the brand new rush slip on muffler with the new scratches in the chrome :?:

:?: .. Looks like they dropped the * thing.. Ok i can be reasonable and after a while they will get some road rash on the bottoms of them so ill just swap em side for side so the scratches are on the inside... Thats what i headed out to do today.. Hummm the inside is all mucked up too :evil: Well i hope they dont have any fans running tomorrow when I call em.. And i sure hope the own up to the fact that they screwed this up.. I really cant stand someone lying to me so they better be using thier heads.. The worst part is i dont have a problem paying them for the tires and they even welded up my tail pipes for me but i payed.. Why screw up my muffler and not tell me.. Also I asked last year about my tour pack as it could be fixed but i was told the insurance company had sent them a bunch of will call tags for everything to be sent back but i just saw my old tour pack backrest pad go on ebay for 90 some bucks :?: Ya im sure it was mine.. I guess what im gonna do is ream some rearend tomorrow and ask to have my liner by the end of the week and tell them they need to think about what they are going to do on the muffler.. Im sure with crap like this they wont be in business very long.. Anyone want to add anything here....

ps: if for some reason even if they replace the muffler ill do business somewhere else from now on .

The worst part is you're going to loose a friend. I don't do business with friends because of things like this. I don't know that you'll ever find out what really has happened. Did the shop owners not know what has happened?Was this the work of one employee who has covered up his mistakes? Who you going to believe?

I'd go directly and calmly to the friend who is part owner. Chances are he has no idea about the damage and SHOULD do the right thing for you. If he doesn't he's not much of a friend and I'd let the hammer fall then.

Id call the ins company, verify they sent will call tags for the parts, if they did not, tell them you want the parts back...or you want the money that they acquired off ebay for them..I have never ever seen an ins company take dented up fenders, and cracked nose cones, why the hell would they want a broken tour pack back, to set on there desk....Im saying someone has seriously took advantage of you, and pulled the wool over your eyes...Id say get a few cocktails in ya and give them a call...

Well if im getting shafted then friends i dont need.. I dont think this guy knows what the other is doing.. First is a call to the guy thats actually running the place and taking orders and scheduling.. And screwing me.. Then if there is any B/S I may talk to my friend or I may talk to my lawyer.. The sad part is that id like to see the guys do well but i cant do business anymore with someone that fixes one thing and mucks up another.. I know you or a good share of you out here dont know me that well but im very picky.. I like nice stuff and I work every day to get nice stuff.. I cant stand a chip from a stone let alone someones just plain stupid mistake.. I just spent an hour wet sanding the gas cap for my tanks gas tank cause it had a scratch in it

Its all polished and real pretty now...

Well you're asking on a Sunday after I just got home from church (and Auto Zone without my parts). The "Golden Rule" says "Forgive" but it doesn't say anything about forget. Your friend should be told what and why if nothing else to get it off your chest. He will choose if he will do anything about it. His perspective is probably different than yours which doesn't need to do anything about your friendship. A friendship won't be very healthy if you always remember that he took you. But you don't need to give him the chance to do it again and be second-quessing everything start to finish. GPster

Well This went rather well. I just got off the phone with the bike shop and they are gonna order another new set of mufflers. george the guy that runs most of the place apologized and I did as well for having to bring up this issue. I also told him that I hoped he could straighten out these mistakes for future customers .. He did tell me that they are planning a move to a bigger shop for next winter and I sure hope they do.. thats where a lot of the mishap's are comming from.. Too many bikes to many people too little space.. No I wonder if my top came today

i'll let ya know how much mine were, they get put on tomorrow.....
i be much happier having tread on the rear...

Easy there....

I happen to like nice stuff and also clean stuff but thats me .... I do get my stuff dirty too but I maybe kinda wierd cause i still would rather wash my vehicles in the driveway by hand than take em to the car wash only cause i get a better job! The tires look good and im glad i went with the larger one on the rear. Now we just need some riding weather but i dont see that any time soon..

it was a COLD mfr this morning riding it in for tars but 445 bucks later, i feel like a new woman;)

130 on the frt, 140 on the back, blackwalls cuz i knew i would wash it enough for whitewalls;)
