I don't know about the Michigan one, but we have ordered quite a few tie rods/ drag links from Speedway.  Hard to beat the price, and they will custom make them to what ever length you want.  Also available in either spherical rod end or conventional tie rod end types.

They usually ship in a couple of days tops.  Can't recommend them enough.

I have used Schedule 80 black pipe available at plumbing supply outlets. The 80 is a thicker wall allowing you to tap it for a Standard Ford 5/8 tie rod end.

here is a yahoo search saved as a word document for your area...not just the first one named

and as for the idea of using black iron pipe as a tie rod end....hmmm

is it not 2007????

perhaps ..  but the questionable metalergy.  and quality.   strength.

I use 7/8" OD .156 wall OD tubing.  The standard Ford tie rod end uses an 11/16" fine thread.  You can get right and left hand taps from Speedway.  I make mine in a lathe.  I drill the ends out with a 5/8" bit and power the taps in.  Some people can do it on the bench.  But I can not, for the life of me, get it right that way.

I get the tubing from a local steel yard in the next town over.  They have it in stock and will sell cut lengths.  About a buck an inch.

The steel yard here sells full length stick only.  Last one I bought was $156 for 20 feet.

If you make these every now and then and have access to a lathe buying the taps and a stick of tubing makes sense.  But if this is going to be a one time deal, buying made up units from Speedway makes a lot of sense.

And remember.  Ford tie rod ends have an 11/16 fine thread.  The only application for that particular thread that I know about.

11/16 is correct and I wasn't close to my library for that info.
