My old 92 Dodge Dakota is starting to show it's age.  Body and chassis wise it is solid as the day it was pushed off the assembly line.  But the 318 has 180,000 Plus miles on it now and it uses a lot of oil and has a habit of stalling out when cold.

My wife wants me to get a new truck.  But I see this as an opportunity to do a little hot rodding.  Local wrecking yard has a low milage Hemi, transmission, computer, and harness that I can pick up for a reasonable price.

I'm thinking engine swap.  But I have no experience swapping a late computer controlled motor into a vehicle with a computer controlled motor of earlier vintage.

Is this a doable swap?

I'm assuming the motor and transmission will fit and the computer will work just fine with an aftermarket harness.  But what about the details?  Instruments, heat and air, lights, etc.

Assuming it will all work I can have a strong towing vehicle with a lot of life in it for much less than something new or nearly new.

What do you all think?
