what about using a dodge dakota front end?  elpolacko (steve) on the HAMB would be the guy to talk to about that.

I second the Dodge Dakota approach.  Don't know if Industrial Chassis makes one for the 62 pickups but if they do I would look no further.  The basic cross member costs a bit more but all the suspenson parts are available in the yards and there is not much demand for it.  So the total cost should be less than a hub to hub aftermarket Mustang II setup.

Does a 62 have coil springs, or torsion bars? If springs, you can cut a coil, and use shorter shocks.

If you go to the 73 up spindles, a 72 Grand Marquis rotor will bolt on, and had the 4 1/2" bolt pattern.

torsion bars and by 73 up, you mean chevy PU right?

yes. Actually 73 to 87. You can crank the torsion bars down some.

i've been told the 71 up spindles won't work on a 60-62 torsion bar f.e., you know if that's true?
The last thing I want to do is hurt you. But it\'s still on my list

No, don't know if it's true.
