I have good 31 spline, 3.55:1  posi Ford 9" center section that I'd like to switch to 28 spline. It's the only 31 sp piece I have left and it's the perfect ratio for my new coupe. Does this just entail switching spiders or would i be better to buy 31 spline axles?

I would buy new axles, espcecially if it is a heavy car and you are going to put power to it.

Yes it's just switching spider gears. On a posi, you have to switch the posi drive plate that takes place of the spider gear on one side.

It's a pretty light car with a small with maybe 350 hp.  I've used 28 splines in much heavier equaly [owerful cars so I'm not too concerned with the strength. I think I'll try switching the spiders and give it a couple of good holeshots to check it out. Thanx all. Good info
