Hi all,

I'm looking for a modern, cable released, hood latch mechanism for my '52 Chevy pickup. Do any aftermarket companies make one (Lokar, AutoLoc, etc.)?

Have any of you retrofitted a modern car/truck latch to my application?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

On my '40 Chevy Sedan, I used my existing latch on my hood. I just replaced the cable release with one from Watson Street Works.

They also have latches.

A street rod is a vehicle made before 1949 that is modified with modern stuff: bigger motors; newer trans; updated suspension, front & rear; a/c.
Following is a street rod plus definition: No known definition because it changes.

VW has several small latches that work good. Also BMW. Just take a walk around a salvage yard, and you'll find more. GM cars have a long cable that is easy to mount.

I'm going to use one of those little bear claw door latches.  My hood is hinged at the front though so I don't feel like I need a double catch.
