Fuel sending unit

I'm having a fuel tank made this weekend for my project truck. This got me wondering about a sending unit. I will be using Haneline gauges. I don't know what would be compatable or what is even available. I used a J.C. Whitney unit on my '46, but that was with some "high dollar" SunPro gauges. Now that i have Dakotas in it the gauge doesn't want to work no matter where i set the switches. What are you using, and where did you get it?

Just a guess, a Stewart Warner sender should work. you can get that from JC Whitney too.

Don't know what Haneline gauges use for a min-max resistance but.....

On teh GM senders, one's an early application, the other's a late application, forgot which is which.

Isn't the early GM something like 0 to 35 ohms?

I think "the General" switched in the mid 60's to the 90 ohm sender.

I believe they were both the same resistance but the early ones were 0-90 and the late were 90-0.  I ran into the problem when I re-wired a 55 Chev for a guy about 15 years ago.

I believe they're the same as Ford.  I'd have to stick a meter on one, though, to make sure.
