Read about it at xxxx.com, it's the post about Gas Monkey Garage.

After reading the whole thing any parents should seriously rethink whether they want to support Gas Monkey Garage, Coker Tire, or Newstalgia Wheel, owned by Corky Coker's brother David.

This is vile and despicable, and EVERYONE here needs to read about what happened at xxxxx.com and get the word out. Spread the TRUTH to every forum you know on the NET, it's the only way to be sure our hobby remains safe for our kids....

If you don't have the time to post some details here. I have no time to go over there and find out what your talking about. Links would help.

DrChop

Here is the link
Since August 20th, there has been a thread about Gas Monkey Garage supposedly asking for help finding a charity, in order to give away a hotrod. The Forum Admin, Jon, has with the members help, uncovered that Coker Tire, Corky Coker, GMG and the people in and marketing their promo video, and SEMA itself all have ties to the pornography industry. I feel that as parents we should expose the message about Coker Tire and GMG. I don't want Shannon to become involved with any of these individuals at any hotrod events, since it has also been shown that one of the parties involved was also registering at sites as a "junior member" and may, in fact, be using our own forums as a means of seducing our own children into this industry. PLEASE take the time to check out what has been going on with the discussions over there and become involved, for your kids sake.... You know I would'nt take a stand about this if I did'nt have VERY STRONG feelings about stopping this filth from entering our hobby!

I am not saying your right or wrong, or that the other guys are right. I just do not see how Jon can say he is better then them after some of the pictures he has made and the video he edited. Stooping to the level of your opponent does not allow you to claim a win. I would have handled it much differently.

DrChop

What IS important is what level of this filth is invading our hobby. I for one will NOT spend another dime supporting GMG, Coker Tire, or Newstalgia Wheels knowing this.

And you can be sure I will do all I can to keep this out of our hobby, including spreading the truth about all involved as far as I can both on and off the Internet.

I just thought that everyone here should go and check it out, and come to their own conclusions.

If you feel that this topic is too risque for the site, I understand. Hotrodding is a family oriented hobby, as is this site, and you're the admin. If you feel I have overstepped my bounds on trying to get the message out, by all means delete my user account from the RoundTable.

And believe me it's not easy for me to say that. I DO remember the baby pool days on the old Cybercruzin site.

It's my responsibility as a father to see that Shannon is protected from people who would do her harm. Who would have thought I can't feel safe bringing her to a car show...

I dont know :?:  I saw this quite a while ago and I think they just * off Jon and now he has taken it on himself to police the whole deal.
Thats just my take on it and actually I think its a lot of wasted bandwith either way.

I'll start out by saying I only skimmed thru the many posts in the thread over there.  I didn't see a video or much of anything that caused so many posts.   Jon has a right to edit or limit the posts on his forum to keep the atmosphere he wants to maintain for his members.  That happens on most forums, including this one.   But to expect the same values from the rest of the rodding world is asking a lot and probably not healthy.  All of us have different ways of looking at things and I find that one of the interesting parts of life.    Look at the motorcycle world and you'll see that people with all different beliefs and values can share their common interest....riding motorcycles.  I know Christian riders, hardcore 1%ers, yuppies, old farts, street racers, women riders, people who prefer different brands, helmeted, non-helmeted, and the list can go on and on.  They still share the joy of riding and would probably resist any effort to limit their personal legal activities.   I believe that the many different faces of rodding can co-exist also.

Well, enough rambling and stirring the pot....I'm off to the drag races at Indy.    :0-0

I moderated on the that board for a couple years till recently.

I can say that Jon is a level headed fellow that appears to think things through quite well for his age.

I will comment on the drama part except to say if you want to find out who is involved ; follow the money

Even little clean Disney has a separate corp setup to work with "R" rated movies .  Why?  Money

I'm with you on that George.  I'm a relative newbie but I was kinda surprised to see this topic come up on the RRT.   We all have our own take on what's right and wrong but most folks on the RRT don't seem to use the forum as a soapbox for their personal views on morality.  Personally, I've never been solicited for any of that stuff by Corky or the rest of the gang, nor at any events, so I still feel pretty safe.

Hey, I like your avatar.  I'm looking to get Mr. Natch put on the rear of my teardrop.   Enjoy Indy.

My intent on sharing the discussion was so that ppl here can see what has been discussed, and come to their own conclusions. I'm not trying to preach morality, I have seen my share of filth as an adult, and I'm sure I'm not alone in admitting it. The stuff consenting adults do needs to remain between the adults. When it is forced someplace that is not an adult only website, for the world to see, that is where I have a problem with it. To me it's not a question of morality, it's a matter of keeping our kids who participate in this hobby from being forced to lose their innocence.

For the parties involved to have ties to child predation on the net just sickens me. On that issue there is no 'grey area', you are either part of the problem or part of the solution...

Frank please close this thread if you would, I don't care to read any more responses from it. Far as I am concerned the matter is moot here and I'll just go back to lurker status...

Doc

EMSjunkie

Doc, please don't take offense to any of the replies.........its just opinions.....like yours..............I hafta agree, the moral standards of this nation have went to hell in a hand basket  :x I see it every day

no matter how hard we as parents try, ultimately the decision to "go bad" or "stay straight" is up the the young person. there is debauchery and filth everywhere. some companies call it "advertizing" because we all know "s#x sells".

I applaud your integrity and morals.

I relinquish my soap box now
