Some progress!

Just a couple of progress pic's of my track roadster. Since I have given up on trying to make Bonneville my wife found some house things I "had" to do so roadster progress has slowed. These pics show the fan mount and shroud, the windshield post and mounts, and you can kind of see the grill guard that I made from 3/16 stainless rod and some stainless screen.
Also included pic of engine which is my next real effort, new cams, new cam drive pulleys, got to have those neat anodized jobies like the "rice rocket" guys have.

Hello;
I know it's hard enough to build a car and your photos are really nice but I am curious about the motor you showed. What is it? A bit more info would be nice. As for the car, My hat is off to you it really looks super and really seems as though progress is on a steady course till you finish.
It's not how long it takes it's how good it turns out that counts!

The motor is a 2 liter, 122 cu. in, Ford Zetec, this one is from a 2000 Escort. I am changing cams and will be putting Hilborn 4 throttle injectors on it. I am looking for around 170-180 hp. John Eralch in Denver makes an adaptor for the Zetec to the Borg Warner T-5 trans which I am using also. The engine was a stick shift originally so I am retaining the stock flywheel and pressure plate and I got a clutch disc from Centerforce that fit the pressure plate and has the correct splines. I did the header myself but the ceramic coating from Finish Line Coating in Portland, OR. really made them look great.

Wheels and tires are next and then the injection and engine stuff. Coker is listing some 17 and 18 inch Firestone early sprint car tires in their new catalog but have not set the sizes yet, I am hoping that the 17 inch will be in the 32-33 inch dia area and that is what I will go with on the back. Wheels will be American Salt Flats.

WVCAB, the present "tires" are 3/4 inch 5 plys!

It's only time and money that keep me from finishing!

About the comment about "time & money" I say; "Me Too!"
I love the Track T if I didn't have so many butts in my family I would have one myself.
I think your car is really showing your choices and abilities to the max. I don't know your experience but from what I have seen you  should really have a professional  outcome to your project.
Just keep up the super work! (No matter how long it takes)

Im curious (not sure if it has been covered already) as to what you did to the frame rails there at the door jam. It looks like you pinched them to match the body. Id like to know if you just gave a small little pie cut before boxing) on the tops and bottoms of the rails like normal, or if something else was involved.

To pinch the frame I made a tool from two pieces of 2x2x.125 tubing and a couple of 1/4 inch plates that I cut to a 6 inch radius, I welded the tubing to the plates such that they were at the angle that I figured I needed to do the pinch. I then cut the frame rail top and bottom flanges and trimmed the flanges for the amount of bend I was going to do and C clamped them to the tool which bent them. On the bend which shortened the flange I then welded the flanges together and added a 1/8 th plate on the inside to add strength. On the bend that spread the flanges I made a plate that fit the flanges and welded it in and also added an extra 1/8th plate on the bottom of the flanges.  I did the big pinch becasuse I also narrowed the cowl 3 inches which really makes the need for a big pinch. I did not box my frame, for two reasons: 1. Boxing adds lots of weight for a fairly small increase in strenght and torsional stiffnes. 2. If you look at the attached picture you can see that I have a pretty good "K" member at middle of the frame and this really increases torsional stiffness and also my rear cross member is pretty stiff and it makes the rear part of the frame stiff in torsion and because I am looking to be in the 1500 lb area I didn't want the added weight of boxing.
