Got my Dad all set up with Hospice yesterday and the nurse came over today. I stopped by after work and talked to dads girl friend and she told me dad doesnt have long :( .  She is a trooper and promised dad years ago that as long as she was able he wouldnt be in a home. She is caring for him while the rest of us do what we have to do like work and pay bills. In the last week he has gone down hill pretty fast. Were hoping he doesnt suffer too long and its at the point he is on morphine to ease the pain.  Ive had to cancel the trip to puerto rico to see the other kids and the grand daughter but looks like we will go in march instead.  If I dont show up for a while you will know why...

Having gone thru this with my mom not long ago I know some of what your feeling. Stay strong for him and try to remember all the good years. Trust that he will find peace.

My sympathy is with you and your family.  Hospice is good and he is home and comfortable.  That's all you can do.  Remember the good times.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.  He's in Hospice and surrounded by loved ones.  Under the circumstances that's all a person could ask.  Be there for each other, use the people that are there for support.

I went through that with my Dad in May.

I learned that if I couldn't keep him, the kindest thing for him was that his pain would end quickly.

Please know you are in my thoughts.

Sorry too hear he took such a quick turn, but as has been said he's in good hands with Hospice they're really a great organization. Were you aware that they're there too support you also?
