I am building a faux gas station front inside my work shop.  Hope for it to look like the front of  an old gas station , there will be old signs and stickers on the thing.

I've got some old lights with a large round shape , simular to old lights on billboards

In the photo of the wall... at the top of the wall board will be a small corrugated metal roof at an angle . The wall board will continue up to the top of the 2x4 framing above the corrugated roof line....... the metal rail you see near the top of the photo is my garage door rail for the work shop door. In the photo it looks closer to the new wall than it is.

The door is a basic 24 inch wide pre-hung door.  I need to modify it a bit for an older look of some type.  Mayb cut and install winder in it or something??

To the right of the door , I am thinking of trying to make it look like there is a garage door there. Nail on some trim , handle and hinges.

Sounds exactly like Earl Schieb's place.  This is what you see the minute you walk thru his front door.  His car desk is to the right along with a huge sitting are and a bunch of showcases.  He even painted a walkway with weeds and cracks in it.  Very clever

Here's a close up shot of the fake door w/gas station attendant and fake window w/stuff in it

Here's his desk area

Found another good shot of it.  Maybe you can gather some ideas

Here's a pic from the cruise on Rt 66 near Joplin from this past summer. This was the gas station from the old town the guy gathered.
Pictured in front are Enjenjo, Earl Scheib, and Bob K's Chebby.

Tony here are some links that might help.  I've been looking to finish mine sometime in the future, don't know when that might be though  :? .  I'll probably have to make a fake pump and air station as I can't afford the real thing or a reproduction.

You might have these, if not maybe you can find something.  A friend of mine from Missouri brought me one of the old hand pump square oil containers (about 3 feet or more high).  I have it out front and need to repaint it, but the pump part is in good shape.

Some where at the house I have a really thick book on old gas pumps.  I can't believe how many different types there were, especially in the early years.  If you need it I could get you the title.  I got it off of Amazon I think.

Sum,

I was reading Mike Sieferts (http://1149.ca/) page the other day and he said that he had several pump globes made with his logo on them.  Kind of a neat idea.

They're pricey, I could barely afford to have 15 sets done. Raw cost on a globe with 2 lenses is near $300 Canadian.
I haven't let all the guys in our race crew in on the fact that i'm having them done becase I'm trying to keep it a "Christmas" secret for my dad and brother. Once the cat is out of the bag I have to offer them to the guys in the crew, and then finally I'll be able to let the remainder go public.  Right now I'm thinking of leaving it at only 15 complete globes produces and pricing them at about $400-500 canadian so that there is a contribution to the race car included.  The situation may change once the whole crew is aware and dad and Ted are in on the descisions.
Keeping it a secret from dad and Rob is killing me.

Are the globes glass or plastic?

Is the design screen printed, or is it an applique?  ....Or???

It looks great, Mike!
