Tony 'ole buddy, I got a small problem here.
my powerglide is leaking.
can I fix this without dropping the tranny?

I know from my line of work, that copious amounts of bright red
fluid is bad.

can I fix this at home?  :?

thanks for your help.

I will mention that from what I see in the foto , it looks like the servo cover is leaking.

Correct?

Correct?

The leak seems to be coming from that round thing with the three bolts.
the bolts are tight, but it still has a pretty good drip coming from around that round thing.
sorry about the terminology, I believe in the K.I.S.S. principle.
keep it simple stupid!

Thanks for your help.

Got the servo cover off tonight. the O-ring is in one piece, doesn't look
like it has been pinched or torn. however, the gasket that seals the
servo to the trans body doesn't look like it seals at the bottom.
gonna send the wifey-poo to the tranny shop tomorrow, hopefully
to get a couple replacements.

Thanks for the info.  :D

there is a gasket and O ring there.

you need to drop the pan and loosen the adjustment of the band.

When you remove the servo cover, the servo will pop out since there is a spring behind it.

there are 2 band struts that can fall out if you are not careful..... the reason to remove the pan.  The servo oushes directly against the band strut .  The strut is a flat piece so it only engages in one spot on the servo pin.

if the struts fall out you may need to remove the v-bpody to re-fit the struts....

sounds tough , but it is dirt simple.

tighten the band adjustment down to 80 inch pounds , then back out the adjuster 3.5 turns.

Thanks for the info Tony, I really appreciate it  :D

went to the local tranny shop, the same one that used to build my stock car trannys, and the owner of the shop gave me a new gasket, o-ring and servo cover. he told me that he has never seen a servo cover leak.

I was looking at the old gasket, it doesn't seem to be sealing at the bottom of the cover. is it possible the servo housing is warped a little?
my tranny shop guy told me to take a flat file and dress up the case.
guess I'll try that, if this don't fix it, guess its silicon time  :x

thanks again for the info Tony, I really appreciate it!
