Quote from: "beatnik"This last weekend we stoped buy Ionia Hot Rod Shop and they had this frame they were working on, had a few things I hadn't seen before.

The boxing plates are U shaped and they used steel bocks in the rails for spacing them out. They drilled holes in the rails and plug welded the plates in place from the top.

when they put the boxing plates in do the Us face the same way or do they oppose each other? see below

Like this [[, one inside the other. there are no welds on the edges, plug wlded every two inches By the way, those are fabricated channel boxing plates with the welds finished inside and out.

That pic that beatnik shows, is the same idea Henry Ford did on my 35 Frame. One smaller rail inside the other rail. On my 35, the outside rails seperated fron the X-member, which where it mated up to the frame, then changed to a smaller rails identical to the frame rail but inside the orher.

Looks nice how they did theirs.
