T-400 question

Howdy everyone

I have a th400 trans and it has the bolt in u-joint on the tail housing.  I learned these were truck transmissions.  Can I just unbolt that u joint and slide it out.....then slide in a normal th400 slip yoke?

I think so, but there's an O-ring which seals off the fixed yoke that needs to be removed to allow lubricant to get to the splines.
