my father once found a French horn in the attic of his rental home ,

I finished with the main color on most of the house. I have some soffit left and then the dark trim. Pretty boring but necessary. :)

More on the house attic sage:  My attic visit on this place was the first time I was up there.  We paid a house inspector $450.00 and received a report, photos, etc..  Larry did a poor job. He did mention some attic insulation was out of place.  Nothing about duct work loose, off, disconnected

I found the HVAC had problems.. About 12 yrs ago a evap cooler was removed and a/c added to the furnace setup.  Old duct work closed off poorly in the attic as shown in the 3rd photo. The cap is not even srewed in place..  There is a diverter slider in place that was used with the evap cooler in the winter for furnace operation. I need to fix that too.

Photos 1 & 2 show duct tube that feeds the kitchen area.  Explains why there is no air flow from the main vent in the kitchen?  LOL

Every time I turn around I must head in a different direction of repairs on this place.

have you showed this stuff to the guy that inspected the place ? Wonder how he would explain ?

Had a colleague who bought a newly built home and then had some kitchen lighting upgrades done by an electrician some years later. The electrician had to stop work and show some of the wiring that had been there since new that was a safety problem and needed fixing before he could continue . House was built during a housing boom and inspectors were doing 'drive by inspections ' as the tradesman called it, Quick walk throughs with little or no attention to things in order to get them all done and not slow down the contractors . Home owner called the original builder about what was found and got nowhere .

Today I mounted my mini chopper over my garage door on the front of the garage . I am stoked , it looks great! glad to say there is no HOA in my neighborhood , LOL 8)  8)  8)  8)

My wife and I drove the old Chevy on a Reliability Run as part of an event called The Gathering at the Roc.  A great run in north central Oklahoma.  We had our picnic lunch beside the road in a city park with lots of great hot rods passing by. There was somewhere between 450 and a 1,000 cars on the run and it went well.  Mostly two lane roads across the prairies of the Great Plains with a few small towns along the way.

Lackluster post. Everything on the house is painted except the facia. It will be a few days before my knees can stand some more ladder time. I'm about to be ready for some hot rod time. I was thinking about going to Amarillo for Sick week. I'm a terrible 'tator. After being a racer, I'm not so sure I want to watch. :)

The Sick Week group was at our local track today.  I did not go although I enjoy these events.  I had family activities today.  As a side note the walk in admission to the track was $30.

Thursday I epoxied the (almost whole) 85 Jimmy job, Friday I mudded it (just the body).

I'm saying it was a hard to break weathered polyurethane crust over, on panels with filler spots, extra thick lacquer primer. Both of which laugh at sandpaper and ruin it in seconds.

The GT coolant temp seems to have stabilized but a park lamp lens is falling off now. Good car.

As is the GTP, which seems to have also stabilized referring to shifts in the 45-50 MPH range. I am slow to believe that somehow a transaxle fluke (debris?) has fortunately passed like that but if it keeps up, I'll reconnect the lockup wire and see what happens.

The purple car is still just as the purple car as it ever was. It may be getting bored with me seeing as how nothing ever changes. Love thy rod.

Thats all for this happy Grand Three and me.   ::)  :)

I have found more crap wire stuff.  Wires that are wire nutted together with Plenty of electrical tape and dropped into the insulation up in the attic..  I know this is bad , illegal , unsafe. I am still trying to figure out what the former home owner hooked in to.. Attic got too warm today to continue. Its on the list to "get back to".. That list is too long.

A long time friend 2 years ago started having flicker of lights in his house.  He has lived there 37 yrs.  He hired a friend that is an electrician to find the problem.  On the end  of 2nd evening of looking , the guy found a cluster of wires, wire nutted together in the attic. That group had been hot and there was black from arcing. He was dang lucky the house did not catch fire.

I know you guys live with much more heat than my area but I installed a 'ridge vent' in my attic the last time I shingled . Basically a vent that covers the peak of the roof in connectable 4'lengths. You cut away 1" from each  side of the peak for a 2" gap the length of your roof or however long you need . Sure lets the heat out! My house ( no a/c) felt noticeably cooler shortly after installing . Attic is well vented now.

Oil change day on the 48. It has about 4500 miles now. Because of the left side accessories drive, the oil filter is bottom only access. :)

Have about half of the replacement  HVAC duct work installed in the attic. We are also changing the duct vent in the kitchen to a square design my wife wants. I got the ceiling hole cut, 90 elbows in place.  Tomorrow will be the insulated flex hose install.

I removed more debris from the attic. about 25 feet of 10-3 romex type wire was abandoned there from the OEM HVAC was removed and new stuff installed about 2012.

RIpped apart more walls in the kitchen..  I found more disaster wire work. About 9 more splices of wire nutz and electrical tape.

For some reason I have many joint aches , again.

I did a tiny bit of work on the 48 today. I had an idea for the bed cover latches to be opened by and mocked up a simple version. They work properly so I need to fab up some parts so it looks like a race car builder did it. Why do something for pennies when you can spend 10 or 20 dollars doing the same thing? LOL.
