Lost my last uncle yesterday. RIP. Aunts are all gone too. He was in hospice care and had called for help to get into bed but when they came he was in bed and gone. We will miss him. He let me drive his spankin new '80 el Camino 43 years ago this month. Liked Falcons and Mustangs back in the day. Korea veteran.

I'm doing bondo at work. Last week I was informed of a format change at the shop. Full builds only now, for folks who can pay straight through without breaks. A substantial price increase too. It will take a long time of that for any of us guys to get decent used cars. I don't have AC in anything except my bedroom for these 100°F+ weeks. But the shop has it.

Still chasing a rolling noise on the GTP. Could be a tire, hub, or differential. Its over 310K now.

Sorry to hear about your uncle, Matt. My last family member died four months ago yesterday, which would've been my brothers 78th Birthday.

I think I've got the last of the welding done on the left front fender of the Corvair, and will start with the bondo next time I'm out there; might be today.  I have a house dehumidifier running out there all the time in the summer...it helps.  And fans. And dew rags.

All I can say is go light on hardener. Even wiping on mornings with AC on in the shop, I digress that a smidgen or two of mud ended up on the trash can due to being out of practice this season. Hey I'll take that though. And the vacuum assist sanding rig plus big fan. It'll wear a guy on out, quick. Go light on yourself every chance you get.

Just in case, for the Kansas boys here is a link to Uncle Gordon's meager estate auction link. There are some cool things, he retired from Texaco in ElDorado. I got his little trucks from Mom.

I lost my last uncle five years ago. I still have two aunts left. Sorry to hear that Matt
Welcome to hell. Here's your accordion.

Thanks, you men.  :)

I am still wading through the auction pages. Hard to believe his weary flesh is gone but his spirit was due the rest and he was at peace waiting for it.

Aw. Ok.  :'(  Dang.

Shaking it off.   Memories will always be good for a smirk. Ain't been that long since he and his son in law and I blasted past a bunch from the other side of the family with the 455 at full song, 100+ and climbing. He really soaked up that ride. Would never admit he liked hauling *, always had stock stuff himself. :)

Hey Matt...the first batch was my test batch, small.  Yeah, it was hot, but I did get to use some of it. Second batch a little better.  Then, too hot to stay in the shop.

Today was better. Got some areas covered, but then it turned too hot again. It's 5:30 here now, and it's still about 96* in the shade.  Moving along slowly.

Stay cool and hydrated.

Hit it as early as you can in the day. In your jammies if nobody minds.   Wiping is the easy part so just do that then come back when circumstances allow.

I got back into swing quick enough doing this type stuff. Whats shown is finished, below roof. I didn't exactly blaze through it.

Oh and a part fell off the GTP on the way home, ran over it. But it was all curled at the ends anyway and had an added screw at the back. I have a pair of good ones off the 40th anniversary car, in dark cherry. So duplicolor and double sided tape soon because ugly.

Oh oh and and... I played a small part in establishing the location of hood gap on the Stude. I really like how the line works from the majority of angles. It is like looking at a flower, the flow is so organic.  :)

We still haven't seen the pair of widened glass fenders yet. Our talented guy is working at all the hood area stuff.

Finally replaced front sway bar end link bushings on the 69. It had spit one out. Rubber. And bar was consequently rubbing frame. They were only a couple dozen outdoor years old. I put poly in this time and am back flat on turns now.

Got supplies to replace that GTP door molding also. Still chasing the whir / groan noise on it. Nearabout overdone the yard work yesterday, 15° cooler today but don't think I have a hub replacement left in me. Bondo awaits.

In the valley of the sun for couple daze.  Helping a friend load up his 99 yr old mom's stuff into a U haul for trip across the valley.  About 60 mile trip 1 way

She needs assisted living now. His wife has spent over 1 yr trying to get her into State managed $ care. Its one roadblock after another. They paid a company to handle the mountain of paperwork and up till now they have done a fair job.  Suddenly another SNAFU popped up, that could take months to resolve.  So, mom is moving in them.  He is 74 and his wife is 72..  Mom is 99.  Mom has early dementia, bowl control issues, etc.

The wife has been taking care of mom in her small apartment for near 2 months now, since they thought the move to assisted care was near... Then the move is not happening soon.

Monday it was 117*F , weather guessers say about the same today , tuesday.

Tony, the hospital wanted my wife and I to take in my older brother instead of putting him in a nursing home (terminal).  We said no, he was incontinent and needed 24 hour care that we couldn't give him.  He was in a hospital for almost a month before going to a nursing home.  I was his executor, etc. so we were paying his bills with the checking acct. he had plus his SS and pension.  We got a bill from the hospital for over $1400, and my wife disputed it. They said everything was correct.  Last week, we got a refund bill from the hospital for that amount.  You really have to keep up on it.

Public Service Announcement:  We use GoodRx when we buy our prescription at any pharmacy.  I went to the dermatologist last week for my skin cancer, and he prescribed two skin care products, both generic.  I've used them before. The total bill for both tubes of cream was over $250.  My wife did some research on them and found that the name brand was actually cheaper than the generic equivalent.  We went to the pharmacy today and told them that we wanted to use GoodRx, as it is a cheaper price. No problem.  My wife had already brought it up on her phone, so they took that behind the counter and scanned it. Got the cheaper price. They had to order the name brand cream, so we will have to go back when it comes in. They agreed that saving $160 was worth using GoodRx. There is no subscription fee, and you don't have to join anything.  Just bring it up on your phone and take it in.  Sometimes you may get a GoodRx card in the mail, but you don't really need to use it.  No costs or outfits to join.

Doug, did you bang those old horns around a bit?  I've rapped on old horns, then adjusted the adjustment screw and they started working again.  Just did it this year with both Corvair horns.

We are back in the AZ mountains.. Left central AZ about 11:15am where it was 109*F...  Arrived up here, clouds lite rain around the area. It was 76*F.  Much better.  ;D  ;D  ;D

Phil: my buddies 99 yr old mom is healthy for her age.  Still gets around well usually. She became afraid of her scooter (dementia moving in, we guess)...We take that as a good thing, that she does not want to operate the scooter now.

Fun fact: today as we were loading the scooter into the U haul on the ramp.  Uhaul ramp was a bit steep. My buddy: "It does not want to climb all the way. Me: THEN  Get your as- off the scooter. After he got off the scooter: He kept pushing the "go trigger" in reverse... Me: "Forward is better"... The other direction please..  I was on the back end of the scooter helping it over the bump as the ramp meets the cargo area..  Any way: stuff was loaded.

Only injury was my wife. She face planted as she stumbled on a curb carrying a few square plastic containers.  Nothing broken. She scraped skin on her nose.  People were telling me she fell.. I found her in the bathroom.  Blood running down her nose- face.

Let me say:  My wife is a klutz..  We've had "loud" discussions over the decades on her trying to carry way more stuff from car to house than she should carry..  Etc .... I dont want her getting hurt like today. It was a simple injury, it could have been much worse.

My wife says they used to call her Grace.  Her name is Chris.  She doesn't watch the ground when she's walking.
