Funny you should say that Frank. I posted it on my FB page and a local friend asked me if that was a Tucker! Probably not too many Tuckers pushed over the hill! 😀

More work on the 5th wheel.. always something.  Testing systems.  I turned on the fridge last week. Its the absorption type of fridge. 120v or propane.  All it wanted to do was freeze. I was seeing temps in the food area of -12 and -30 in the freezer section. 

I ran some tests I found online. All was correct.  I shut off shore power and put the fridge on propane & 12 volt battery system for about 2 hours. It worked correctly.  I hooked the rv back onto shore power.  After 24 hours the fridge is working as it should.  ;D

I bolted down some aluminum angle bits in the storage bay.  Strap my Snap On tool box in place.  Fixed and adjusted a few more cabinet doors in the rv.. that is a constant battle with any rv. 

Best way to think about an RV as it rolls down the road: It is in a hurricane and earthquake at the same time.

While being full of parts that cost thousands of dollars and require a witch, a priest and library full of schematics that apply to this particular model yet match nothing on this specific unit. Its maddening. Six months of working on them was all I needed to decide I would never own one.

Got pan halves for the 55 yesterday noon and one is sitting in place now. Roof came in at noon today. Big stuff only arrives during lunch. No cutting of new roof yet but I reckon that can be this afternoon. The shape and size of it appear to be as promising in person as it was on the computer. :)

Owner of the job should be by in the AM and maybe I can have something for them to look at.

The simultaneous earthquake / hurricane combo thing is so true. Made me :lol:

I helped my son in law replace the alternator on his Toyota Tundra truck.  The shop was going to charge him $900.00. The alternator cost about $275.00. It took us about 5 hours.  I knew it was going to be tough when the first step was to remove the front tires and drop the sway bar.  It was awful, but we saved him over $600.00 and I enjoy doing stuff with him.  I told him the next time we do it, it will be easier. :)

Looks like the pickup roof won't need cuts out in the middle to resize for length or width to fit the nomad. I may actually get the new panel down onto the drip rails. Rounded roofline will be good. Thats a big relief and is what I hopefully anticipated. :) It will still be a lot of work at rear corners and front and rear ends. Hope the owner likes what he sees.

I would agree with comment.  My limited eggspeariance with repairs & working on a RV does indicate a scrambled mess behind the walls. The low quality of many parts. the daisy chain ground wire setup is insane.  :-[

on the flip sidw: there are many RV repair videos from poor  to efficient quality.  Some of these folks with RV repair videos think they need to talk about useless , unrelated crap for 3 to 13 minutes before getting to the task at hand. You learn to fast forward thru that stuff.

i've had my back - spine - disc problems flare up this week. It has not be fun since tuesday.

Got a panel made Friday, to tie the cab back panel to floor pan on the 55 job. Customer liked much of what he saw but asked for revision of my initial, "flat" roof placement. Based on photos. He liked the squared off slant cut at back of roof because it sets his vehicle apart from all the other converted Nomads. ??? Yeah... "everybody does" what I'm doing.

Wanted us to raise the rear of the roof an inch and show him that. Did that, haven't heard back. I've attached the first page of images about options. It shows the before, my initial flat placement, and then with roof raised an inch at rear to follow the Nomad roof line. Next page shows having a flat area above the window but in all of these you may have to look pretty hard to spot differences due to the image size.

I did another view of the imaginary car made from a 68-72 C/K. Didn't chop the roof quite far enough but I ain't worried about it... taking slices out of one at this view angle is a fairly foolish endeavor. But that seems to be my specialty (or what I tend to create, given the chance) and I'm satisfied with the rest of it. Not a looker but a real looking car could probably yep, be made from truck body stuff.

A couple weeks ago, I sold a cardboard 7up sign on MarketPlace for $25. The sign was from 1947.  The buyer paid with paypal, then said he would pick it up by the end of the week. Today, I texted him and asked him if he forgot. He did. He came by today to pick it up, and we got to talking. He said he buys/sells any kind of signs. I told him I had some in the shop. He bought 15 signs from me for $225, and I know I didn't have more than $20 into them.  I was buying them for a buck or two for the metal.  I was going to take a couple pix, but my camera battery died. I did get one pic though.
I survived the Hyfrecator 2000.

The sign business was good this week. :)
IDJ, I'm partial to parallel and perpendicular but the mild rake might grow on me. There was a 55 that had drooped front fenders that made the rounds in the last couple of years. I would think that if the roof had angle then something else would need angles also. ?????
Out of my league as a designer. :)

I called it an elmad on some of the file names. :)

Bill, the tailgate and bottom of window are at about the same height now. Top of bed sides (calling those the bed rails) kick up aft of wheel. If you look very closely, here you can see that I've shown raked rails (just caps, to cover up the nasty existing stuff). Looks to me like thats the answer for unifying to help the roof slant look more at home.

Together, raked roof and rails combine to make what I think is a loosely acceptable but noticeably more aggressive profile. Next to which the flat roof / flat rails appears more mundane, and more correct. To me. In the flat arrangement, front of rail cap is even with the bead around the truck window. On the raked rails, front of cap goes down against existing rail. What sells me on the rail rake is the transition at front of rail to sail panel allows correcting the saggy rail look while retaining the nomad-familiar contour there. :)

Images marked w/bevel show a flat area over the window that I have suggested as a compromise in shape at back of roof. It would be extra work to add that. Time will tell.

I am partial to those but probably won't touch it. Bodywork looks terrible on it.

Spent the AM improving 55 left toe board fit and PM making pieces to connect back corners of pan to body. Its a thrill a minute.  :lol: Today I'll go at installing a patch I roughed out earlier for the right toe board, and see about a rocker. Have both inners (only replacing part under pan) and one outer.
