ANy body up on golf carts?  I've been looking at them. We could use one at the RV park and I need something to run around at Bonneville and other places. They may be a bit slow for travel at Bonneville due to the length of the place?

Gas would make more sense at B"ville  than electric.

It seems Ez-Go , Club Car, Yamaha are common brands. I dont need a jacked up hotrod. Just need one to run a bit faster than 21mph

Did the motor in my daughters golf cart a few years ago . It needed boring so while I was swinging it in the lathe I took a little off the deck .025 or so . Then when we went to assemble it we checked piston to head and found we still had room , so I made an aluminum head gasket out of two layers of beer can for another .015 or more in thickness reduction .. That cart will fly ! It is hard to turn over by hand . You are right about gas being more practical at the flats .

This one is supposed to be the best new cart  EZ Go Express S4  about 10 to 11 thousand new

The fastest  is the Garia Via 25 mph US spec at 25mph  Euro spec is 45 mph. This one is electric with a 50 mile range. If you have to ask, you can't afford it  ;D

I am looking to spend up to 1500 bucks for a running , driving cart .... then go from there for parts to increase speed.  I found one place : Plumquick dot com that builds some HP parts and motors for electric golf carts.

Since I think a gas powered cart would fit my needs better...  gas engines and the belt drive  clutches are basic hotrodder stuff.  I watched one Youtube video where a guy swapped in a larger  Harbor Freight Predator engine.

In my little tractor pulling world there are a lot of guys with them. They sure are handy for throwing the weights, gas can, jack into instead of carrying them. I see more electric than gas. A friend had an issue with his electric cart which he hauled in the rear of his trailer. The trailer rode bad enough in the back that the acid would splash out and drip to the floor. His solution was a $1400 conversion to a lithium battery. Being sealed there is no more acid leak.

You were clear.  I was not. Only seen 1 gas powered 2 stroke cart on Craigs List here.  I do not want a 2 stroke.

I am still not sure the golf cart is the way to go.. Another stumble block is this RV park (probably others too) require insurance on the cart. Which requires the cart have a title & plates. At least I was told the cart needs a title to insure it.

I read and hear conflicting information on the golf cart insurance. If I use the cart around here, the insurance on my trailer is suppose to cover liability?

Altho I still watch golf carts on Craigs List, I have decided to Not buy one.  I do not see the need at this point.

Amazes me the spam ads for Golf Carts on Craigs List. They post 3 to 8 ads with same photos of a custom cart that is easy worth 4 to 5k  for a silly price: $704.00 or $600.00 ..  I flag them
