I ordered a Wheelchair lift from a company out of Florida 2 weeks ago. The package arrived yesterday in rather * pore condition. One side of the box was crushed all the way down. The other side of the box had 2 well placed stab marks from a forklift about mid way up the side of the box. Oh the lift and all were bolted to a pallet. The whole box was loose from the pallet and a box of small parts was taped to the top of what was left of the box with masking tape. The whole thing looked like it had been on world tour for months. I asked the delivery driver if this was common to get your product all whacked up and he just shrugged and says I don't know.. I wish a person could trust that their items would be handled property when shipping..  Now today I have to go through the entire order to determine if all the small parts are still there... The upside is at least it wasn't shipped USPS...  8)

As a side note I should have mentioned in my post with the painting, that Cutlass is currently at Blain Bros Racing, a local shop. If you have been watching the Street outlaws Mega Cash Days shows you might know that name. Jake Blain is the little guy that has put Mike Murillo, Doc, Chief and Murder Nova on the trailer. I think ths Cutlass will be a nice car when finished.

MORE shop time . I located a 7" dia x 1 1/2" long piece of aluminum to make my pulley spacer . Machined it down to 6" dia x 1 1/4" with a .200 long hub to fit inside the balancer. Now I have to go to the mill and drill the mounting bolt holes and also dial it in and finish turning the OD on the side I was chucking on . I also have to bore a hole for the pulley to locate on. Then I can put it on the balancer and measure how much more to face off to get the pulleys dead on aligned. I just found a bunch of 1"+ thick aluminum plate at the scrap yard and I am getting it tomorrow to make my alternator mounts from . I have a bunch of aluminum plate at home but nothing thick enough to make a 1 piece mount unless I tig it together and mill it after .

The inside door handle and the solenoid stopped actuating the driver's door of the coupe when I put it away last fall. So, I decided to find out what happened. Turned out the little plastic connector linking the arm to the bear claw latch broke. Was able to get a replacement from CarQuest. Easy fix. The solenoid had been giving me problems, too. So, I looked at that as well. It wasn't pulling all the way back. The rubber was shot and the piston was corroded. So, I ordered a replacement from Amazon. To top it off, my window is not wanting to go up the last inch. Have to look into that now. When it rains, it pours! I started building it in 2000 and parts are now 20 years old. Have to expect this kind of stuff, I guess.

Just thinking about how my projects are not getting done and I realized I have WAY too many. I worked on Vickie's truck Saturday, help her with the interior in the 62 Scotty camper on Sunday. Took Monday night off to move stuff around in the house for the painter who is painting next week. Worked on getting the left hand wheel well installed in my 55 on Tuesday then Vickie asked if we should just sell her truck and start on the 63 Falcon van.

I added 2-1/4" to mu inner wheel wells for the mini tub trying to keep as stock looking as possible.
You never have time to do it right the first time but you always have time to do it again.

Well, Dave, you shouldn't be bored. :) Changing gears a lot has a tendency to make us loose momentum which I'm sure you are aware of. :)

I like the looks of that tub work. :) It does not look particularly fun however. ;)

Started this week fixing the '51 then switched to a '15 truck that hit a tree and got word today that I'll be going back to the '30 job next. :)

Quote from: "phat46"I finished this commission today, the owner is currently building the car and will leave the original paint, thus no shiney. The background is a local diner. Acrylic on hardboard, 16" X 20"

Nice work! :)

Noticed you switched from canvas, curious as to why. I think I would whole lot rather use Crescent board, probably cold press if those terms are still valid.  :?

I actually switched to hardboard quite a while ago. I like the smooth surface better than canvas, which has too much "tooth" for my liking. I put two coats of gesso on it and might sand it smooth when it dries. I find it much easier to do fine details  with the smooth surface. A bonus  is cost, I just st bought a 4' X 8' sheet for about what one good canvas would cost.

I look at it as clearing the mind. :)

Had to look up hardboard. Oh! That stuff. I have some MDF. Boy yeah that would be great to paint on, I don't like canvas panels but figured there must be a reason so tried them. Also have some old Crescent board but for the next I think I may try the mdf. Thanks!
