I guess the theory is that once the topside is in final primer, the bottom side is then worth fixing.

I had a mental runaway at the 1st pic of the under coating falling off. Will all the coating have to be removed to see what's left?

The instructions are: Fix everything "visible". And "Keep as small as possible".

I intend to approach that as one would a race track rule book.

Oh! And if you do have an actual runaway while viewing my threads, feed it a rag qwik and take cover!

Forgot my phone Friday so no pics but I durn near have the rust stuff half done. Grinding was what was needed on the stuff under the floor and right rocker. I left off doing a three piece repair ahead of the RR wheel, which was the worst spot. One more flat piece to cut and zap and I'll be down to the engine compartment stuff. I did make it home with undercoat speckles and new burns in clothes but only one on me. :)

These were the patterns from the rocker fix. And I forgot pics of the area at the front of the left rocker which I have explored a little with a burr bit.

When the owner brought the car in, was he aware of the damage on the bottom?

Do you mean the rust, or the bottomed out floor?

Rust? Sure. He has had the car for awhile and didn't miss much. The rest of the body had so many issues that the rust was secondary, if that answers your question. He was in and out before I got here this morning and was thrilled, indicating a go ahead on the other side. It has been patched before and is worse.

Teaser... catch u up later

Really , when it comes to panteras how many are you ever going to see and would you be willing to wait for another in better condition to come along ? That is the question this owner has probably answered for himself and decided to fix this one . From what I have seen of your posts these past years he couldn't have picked a better  shop to do the work.I think a pantera would make a better return on investment (probably still poor)than a lot of other models out there , not that the owner would necessarily be thinking that way.

idrivejunk

I think he really wants to drive it. And I believe it is a relatively sound specimen. And you are right, its not like other cars in that if this one doesn't suit you, you can shop around. I bet if I made up ten pairs of the rail repair panels like I just prototyped though, they would be an easy sell to a Pantera parts house.

Thats probably more books than I could sell.

Just lost snother post, got the "no post mode specified," message when I hit preview. Info gone, back button gives me a blank posting screen. It was a good post so I'll try again on another day.

Never having ridden in a pantera, I wonder if they have a rough, raw feel to them. Even though there is substantial value to the car, I couldn't resist the restomod treatment. :)
