Straight axle under a gasser type car..

How many degrees of caster into the straight axle?  I read from 5 to 10 degrees.  10 seems a bit much.

Wheel base is only 90 inches. Drag race and street use too.

I would use about 4 degrees , 1/8 toe in . Light car , low rolling resistance . On a race car you have to consider the way it will change the rear corner weights while steering . As you turn , you lift one front corner putting more weight on the opposite rear .The more caster the more it lifts . A lot of caster may cause it to drive to the side you just steered away from .we used to put more ladder bar preload in the wheelie prone drag car to make it drive out straight on the wheels up launch . If I remember right you spent a bit of time with your econoline spindle steering arms making the ackerman right ....good move . I often wonder how much the ill handling of a short wheelbase race car boils down to alignment rather than any other issue .

6 or 7 degrees is plenty for a gasser.
