Does anybody know if there is an airline or something else that can be used to replace the plastic tubing on the hydraulic clutch on this 92 f150 engine I'm working on? If not, has anyone heated the tubing to remove the bends from it? Thank you.

Don't have a answer for your question but what is your new project? Or are you getting a running gear together for the next thing that catches your fancy?

Bruce, adapting to the oem parts will be the problem. Frank, that Speedway line would be great if it was larger diameter. I use at least 1/4" on a clutch line so you have faster release. This appears to be 3/8" diameter but I don't know the id yet. I know nothing about the engineering from Ford on this so maybe the volume requirements made the larger line necessary. I'm pretty sure that the master will develop somewhere between 300 and 1000 psi to operate the throwout bearing. Most clutch fingers have around a 3-1 ratio in them. If you have an 1800 lb. pressure plate, it will take 600 lbs of force on the throwout bearing to release them. The line pressure precludes lots of materials. I'm going to investigate the possibility of cutting the lines at both ends and adapting a compression fitting to change to inverted flare. I would then bend steel line to avoid the obstacles. We use a lot of nylon tubing at work (chemical plant). We put 110 psi of air through it. It is rated for a LOT more than that. We put it together with compression fittings. The other end of our fittings is NPT. I don't know what style fittings are on the slave/master of the clutch, but I expect they are not NPT. The tubing will hold up, but I don't know how to connect it. We use 1/4" and 3/8". Ours is rated for UV, some isn't. We use black, but I have seen white and clear.

you will want to use the nylon 11 high pressure.. looks like 3/8 is good for 800 PSI.. should be plenty for a clutch..

probably the same stuff that dorman sells in 10 foot lengths.

there are various ways to fasten things like braided stainless hose to the hose barbs ..  there are so many hoses available.

Thanks for the input, guys. I'll take this unit apart so we have some dimensions to work with before too long. When I get the master apart and see the connection format, this will be easier to see if I'm in deep dodo. :)
