That must be the song the truck with the delicious refreshing ice cream treats plays  :)  However I've left out the most relevant part of the verse... "everywhere a chop-chop". I truly wish it were going chop-chop but this sure is a lot of rot to fix. You bring your hip boots tonight? We're about to wade through a heap of it-

Thats my version of cleaned up enough to apply rusty-changey stuff. Also trimmed more tail panel away. Heres what yesterday's rust converter looked like today-

So I hit it with a scuff pad and reapplied and re-scrubbed then cleaned it all up enough to be a fine place to use a couple coats of rust encapsulator. Yessir, I did weld up that woopsie cut first. Oh and I made these nifty patches for the license tag pocket-

While my stuff is drying, have another look at the front pan extension-

OK, the black gunk is flashed off. Raining outside.

Hang on... quick trip to the blast cabinet... rattle rattle etch psst pssst, OK heres this too, upside down. Aw, I think its blushing!

Mud man got me hooked up on epoxy on the big stuff, for now. And Footloose guy caught his slack on that previous fender whackery by the way. Looks OK now.

If you didn't notice, I was sneaking up on the final trim line around the rear extension patch the whooole time. While the back edge isn't clamped and looks funk-esque, I assure you it fits well. I'll unscrew it once more but wanted to re-check the height of my corner patches. They only look right if I hold them up there just right but you get the idea. Theres still gonna be four or more patches made in this area but this is a start. By the way, when I needed to cut underneath the tail panel, I used a burr tool to make a trench in between places I could reach with a half-gone cutoff wheel on an unguarded tool.

I had really wanted to ask for tomorrow off but chickened out. Supposed to dump rain anyway. Out of nowhere, boss walks up and next thing you know he is offering the day off.    :D  So no Friday episode. Monday or so, I might be doing some Chevelle assembly. Heres stuff and junk to keep you busy until we get to the next post, kiddos... and you can take a nap now if you want to.

Anybody want jell-o?

Nothing under the sun is new:

How about a quality movie with a big second half?
('55 western, John Payne / Slim Pickens)

Or heres a cartoon feature now, but thats all you get. Be good. :D

Hope you enjoyed that round of relaxing entertainment, I know I did  8)

I only had a couple hours with Da Biz today but I got the gas fill tunnel flange patched up-

I worked on another job today but a guy began gutting the Biscayne dash which I very much appreciate  :D

There was a carbon copy of a gas reciept from February 1961 inside the shell of the glovebox door. Norma Something bought 16 gallons at 30.9 per (thats $4.95). Can't read a lot of it but its from an Anderson-Prichard APCO station, looks like in Oklahoma.  8) Wonder if that was it's first fill-up.

I dig history. An el Camino we did had an old paycheck stub in the inner structure. Flew out while on rotisserie. After the job, I put it back like sacred bones.

I just wanted to weld today, and ended up forgetting to slide the loose gas tank brace in so had to hack out a couple of my own welds   then couldn't hold the camera still for a pic of the area I'm working on. The brace needs to wait until I'm plugging the floor in so I can have room to work on the trunk weatherstrip gutter. Its worthy of a good upchuck, too. Still gotta patch the right trunk drop too. Been working on the Datsun and Chevelle most of this week.

Hey, but look at the purty colors I found at the store on the way home-  8)

Getting by with just the phone for pic posting is for the birds and I don't fly very good yet. But the pics look arguably better, don't they? Thanks for visiting!

Sure was a lot of pics for that one area

Change of scenery coming right up but installing trunk floor is not quite next

Started on the front gutter area. Made the raw patch, but the black lip is two sections cut from 64 Impala side gutters joined in the middle and slightly reshaped. The existing package tray flange was trimmed and is sandwiched between the two new layers.

I nearly finished grinding all that but forgot to take a pic.

Thanks, Chris. I have been slacking on pics somewhat.  :P  I'll catch up. This is the trunk floor screwed in place and lacking some weld prep. I put in half a day on it today and had to stop here.
