Looks good.  Running boards are always bent, banged, split, rusted on those trucks.

When we built my 1950 chevy , back in the 1990's, the running baords were a mess.  No reproduction  front  grill bars parts of any type either.

I installed the steering wheel and horn button today, also the turn signal switch. I also have the grille in, the panel under it is a fiberglass reproduction, and it doesn't fit very well. So I made some metal clips to hold it in place. There are twenty bolts holding the grille in place, some of them a bit hard to get to.

More pictures. I coated the bottom of the running boards with bed liner, and set them up to dry. I hope they fit at least half way decent. In any case I have done all the owner will allow right now.

I drove this truck out of the shop today, and took a short drive around the property I still have to put the left door on along with that running board, but we are getting close.

Looks great Frank.  It is all coming together.

Now it is almost time for that very happy moment.  When the owner drives it out the driveway smiling, and you watch it go smiling. :D

I have the other door installed, running board in place and ready to bolt down, and all the electrical gremlins fixed. Nearly ready to go.

Looking good Frank, do you start on one of your projects after that's gone or do you have the next one lined up?
You never have time to do it right the first time but you always have time to do it again.

I took the 46 for a drive yesterday, about 15 miles. Everything works as expected except the steering. their is some looseness going straight ahead, I have to see if the box is out of adjustment and get that fixed.

Friday I took a shake down run after fixing the things I found on the first drive.

The steering had some play in it, the set screws on the steering U joint had loosened up, I retorqued them with Loctite. No further problems.

The AC had leaked out the refrigerant, one of the schrader valves had a small piece of plastic stuck in it, replaced the valve and recharged. No leak found.

The turn signal pilot light would not work. I had installed a diode in the pilot wire to stop feed back, bit with the diode the light would not work, and without the diode the light was enough load to keep the low load flasher blinking. So I rewired using mini relays on both front turn signals to actuate the pilot light when the front turn signals were on. They work like a champ now.

The dash lights wouldn't work. I had them working but they stopped. So investigation found that one of the pins in the plug had bent in a plug, and was bypassing the socket in the other side of the plug. I straightened the pin and it works fine.

So the Friday drive went great, I drove over 50 miles with no issues. Heat works, AC works, all the lights work, brakes are great.

So Saturday morning the owner came in with a trailer, before we loaded it up we took it for another drive, about 30 miles, and he was ecstatic about it. We loaded it up, and he headed back to Akron.
