Congrats on the retirement . I will be able to in a few years but the idea scares me . I would be scared of getting bored with nothing to do , so I am trying to put a machine shop together in my garage .Once that happens , I will put some thought into retirement .

Yesterday, I was compressing the spring for the front of this Accord we are working on, and one of the spring compressors slid half way around the spring, and mashed my left thumb into the other spring compressor.

I got a really nice bruise out of it, and a cut about an inch long. I was lucky.

Any way we got the Honda all back together today. The previous owner had cut all the springs to "lower" the car, about three coils on each spring. So it ruined the struts too. We also had to replace one CV joint boot, and two sway bar links.

OUCH! That sounds painful. I hate those things, they scare the heck outta me, I have taken struts to a shop before just to remove/replace the spring.

Those are the most dangerous tool in most of our shops. I try to keep my foot on top of them rather then my hands.

Congratulation Tom. I wanted to retire at 40......   Got to go time to work.
You never have time to do it right the first time but you always have time to do it again.

We
used to have a set of those "widowmakers" in our shop, I finally broke down & bought a Branick brand compressor that mounts to the wall, it's much safer.

I was always leery of using those on the VW's I used to work on with the MacPherson struts in front.  I guess I was lucky.

I put a new fuel pump on my Escape today. Delphi brand. It's noisy as hell! I put a magnet in the fuel tank just in case, but it looked clean. The car does run better.

I installed a new iac in the 51. It was acting unusual since it got cold. That was an original Mustang part. :) I replaced the stereo in my Dakota. The existing one would drop a channel when ever it felt like it.

we went together at work and got a bunch of your powerball tickets . When we went to check the #s all of us but the welding teacher were in on the bluff . One person read off the numbers that I had previously given her and he had all but the last number on the ticket he was reading . Excitement filled the coffee room until we told him to find out how much we had won and he saw the real numbers while looking.i have since sat on a chair with an air horn hooked to it and he has sworn retaliation on all others involved!

Cut up a little more 1948 Jeepster to make more room for the 1984 Dodge caravan radiator. It's in position but it doesn't leave room to use the radiator mounted fan. Fortunately it leaves more room than I thought for a fan on the engine. I don't seem able to make things as neat as I can imagine them so I guess I'll have to keep the hood closed. No one will get excited about a 2.5 L four cylinder anyway. GPster
