Anyone used on of these new chinese boxes?  About 5 turns lock to lock , 20-1 ratio , I read specs on them.

I am looking at use of the box  on my little gasser project.  Light weight car, not much street use IF any.

I have not used one personally. I have heard or read that the quality was poor on them. Originals can still be found at swap meets but most of those are worn out. It seems the same steering boxes make it back to the swap meets time and time again. Once the "new buyer" figures out it is trash they become the "new seller". I wonder what the big name chassis shop builders are using.

I think Speedway is advertising that they use a Vega style steering box on their "T" bucket kit. I don't think that they would use a poor quality product on their redesign of Total Performance's car. Maybe there is more than one option out there. Both Borgensen and Flaming River have got something going into it. Try looking under the hood of an older S10 truck. It may not be common to find one that didn't have power steering but their standard steering boxes seemed smaller in size. GPster

I believe the Vega box is still the standard. Here is a supplier of new boxes, supposidly using the original GM tooling for $200 https://www.performanceonline.com/Vega-Steering-Box/
From another site dated 2006 to 2010 I see the Flaming River box was having routine failure.
The Bourgson box is another option which I don't have any feedback from, but priced at $320 at Speedway.

On that POL  box.  My buddy bought one and the darn mounting ears were off.  They told him to keep it and sent another. Go figure???

Purty much what I was reading on the Vega box new repo's , is complaints of failure in low miles.

As you folks know, complaints seem to get more online time than folks happy with a product.

Also looked at the GM 525 box  with the longer steering input shaft ...  seems to be re-poped too

6 turns lock to lock !

I made mine from a 92 escort non power rack .

I have seen a rack used in a T bucket where it was used like a drag link with the rack mounted parallel to the frame rail.
