I have a Ford AOD in my 53 F100. It has recently began to act odd occasionally. Sometimes when slowly accelerating it seems to be grabbing and releasing until I accelerate harder. Kind of like a wheel is really out of round, if that makes sense. The first time I felt it I thought it might be a rear drum brake problem, but not so. Any thoughts? Thanks.

If this happens while the trans is still in over drive as it slows down.

The forward clutch pack must come back applied when the trans drops out of over drive cleanly or it will bind up sometimes.

It only occurs from initial takeoff. The last time it happened was after morning of running around with several stops, all but the last were normal. When leaving the last stop it did it. I just continued inching thru the lot then hit the throttle fairly hard and it was fine after that.
