A friend has a 98 that is acting like its running out of fuel,a new fuel pump has been installed but the problem still exists so anyone know where the fuel filter is located. I never worked on one before so I have no clue.

It should be located on the drivers side just in front of the rear wheel. It is mounted to the inside frame rail and is the size of a soup can.

They were told the filter was in the pump so they had the pump replaced,I knew there had to be one after the tank somewhere.

you will also want to replace the fuel pump relay if after you remove the cover it has burned contacts..

i work on way too many cherokees with similar issues..

the ground from the battery negative to the inner fender comes loose.. strip an inch of 16 or 18 gauge house wire.. solid conductor.. bend it into a V shape and stick one leg thru the hole in the inner fender where the small negative ground cable hooks up..then install the bolt.. you can bang it flat after you put the wire in it.. try not to loose the v shaped wire..

you will also want to clean the connection on the end of the fuse box..

the fuel filter is on top of the pump assembly..  good luck with that.. sorry..
