32 Chevy

On a late July evening I was coming home from the Puyallup GG show. Back in Gig Harbor I was almost home when I saw a nice looking blue '70 Nova by the side of the road with the hood up. Standing next to the car was a disappointed looking guy and  Mom and daughter in the car. I turned around the '32 and asked if he needed a hand.

Yep, he was far from home (Alberta ) and his starter died. Did I mention it was Saturday evening and stores were closing? We were less than a mile from my house so I went to get the Duramax and towed him home. My wife invited the mom and daughter in and made them welcome.

Meanwhile I was on the phone looking for a parts store that was open. We found one, went and got a starter and then discovered that the headers were in the way so it required a mini starter. It's almost 9 pm now... I found another store 10 miles away that had a mini starter and would wait for us to get there. Long story short, we got them going and by 10 pm they were on their way back to Canada. Naturally they were thankful but I turned down an offer of money.... I just said to 'Pay it forward'.

Fast forward to December 13: a lady we didnt know came to the house carrying a pile of presents. She said she was the person the 'Canadians were coming to visit' when their car broke down. Along with the presents is a card with heartfelt thanks for turning a difficult situation into a memorable one. Made my day!
