1938 Chevy Vin Number

Our 38 Chevy is almost finished and it's time to get an appraisal for insurance. My question is, does anybody know where the vin number would be on a 38 Chevy Master Deluxe 4 door. I have replaced ALL the running gear on this car so any tags on the motor or trans are gone. Does anybody know if the number was stamped anywhere...or was it just on tags??

try the left side of the chassis under the steering box

My Hollander says the right side of the front seat. If a standard the number will be GAXXXXX If a Master GMXXXXX It can also be found on the block under the distributor if you have the original engine.

I had a 41 Chevy once, and the #s were in the RF footwell about where the passengers left foot would be in frontof the seat.
