We had some pamphlets dropped off at the shop on these devices:

http://www.trailersafetylock.com/

They install between the tires on a multi - axle trailer.

I have zero experience with the device , just tossing it out for viewing.  Seems like running a chain through the wheels would work too.  A beefy chain.

But... with battery powered cutting tools, anything can be cut off easily

The way some thief's operate, they would just simply drag the trailer down the road

The problem today is finding good chains.  Unless you are back east in an older city with big industry, the chains on the shelf today are so soft they are easy to cut.  The last time we took the motorcycles to Jerome, I borrowed a chain off of the one of the frame machines in our body shop.  My shovelhead had no key and kickstarts like a dirtbike, as long as you know where the ground for the Magneto is.

at some motorcycle shops...

there are armored cables that are fairly tough to cut...

using steel collars around the steel cable to prevent access to the cable core with cutters...

O==<=(0)=(0)=(0)=(0)=(0)=(0)=(0)=>==O

the armored sections are very much like the lockable sections in this indicator flex arm..

painting the trailer plate number on the roof...

installing a trailer LO JACK... yes they make them..

installing something similar to a trailer jack up front..   but with a slide through beam mounted vertically..  so when you pull away..  you jack the nose up...  pull the lock to free the steel pin like a old style jack stand pin.. drop the steel square tube down.. put the pin back through it and the lock back on..  if you have used thick enough wall material..  you  could prevent the bandit from easily dragging it away..

creative swing down legs could be added to the back of the trailer.. doubling their use as trailer locks and loading anti tilt legs..   perhaps the hinge pin doubling as an axle for anti tail drag wheels..

an old cell phone.. with some kind of charging device.. using the chaperon program..  mounted in some non obvious looking plastic cover/lamp housing...  would allow you to keep track of your trailer..  yep.. you would have to pay the bill each month..

a hidden tube of dog treets that is easy to empty and refill... so any scent dogs at border crossing are going to sniff and possibly alert..

I have one like this on my car trailer and on my small cargo trailer I use a hitch ball with the shank cut off and a lock on the coupler
