what is special about a "K" case 700r4?

a friend is looking for one and got me wondering is it special or is it internet myth.

K case is a 4x4 trans case.  Has 10mm x 1.5 holes in the bell housing for a bolt on cast aluminum  dust cover.

Also used in S - series trucks with 'ears" cut off case for clearance and used in SS Impala cars in a 4L60e configuration
