Local gasoline prices

I filled up at Thornton's in East Peoria yesterday for $2.78.  My town 25 miles away is $2.83.

Update:  Yesterday, gas in town was $2.83.  I went through town this am, and it was $2.88.  Three hours later when I returned, it was $2.84.  A couple hours later when the wife and I went shopping, it was $2.78...all at the same station.

Paid $1.59.9 tonite at my nearest Frys (kroger) after the grand opening 10 cent discount. Local costco is $1.59.9 regular price but I didn't need it when I was there.

$2.699 Thursday night in Kansas City, $2.859 right now in Des Moines, which is up $.05 from a week ago in Iowa.

Something odd is afoot. OPEC is continuing to increase production even though the price of oil is below the range the Saudis have aimed for over the past few years. Something is going on and I'm not sure what.

One possibility is the OPEC members are trying to take out the speculators who've been soaking up a lot of the profits over the past 10 years.

Another possibility has to do with the Russians. They need oil at about $105/barrel to support their governmental budget. Saudi Arabia needs about $35...big difference. Most of the Middle East has an issue with Russia's continuing support for Syria and Iran. A lot of other countries have an issue with Russian intervention in the Ukraine. All these situations have been difficult to resolve because Russia really doesn't care what anyone thinks, and no one wants to start with WWIII.

I don't mean to bring politics in here and don't want to start an argument...but oil is a potentially powerful weapon and I've paid attention to his market for a long time...something isn't normal.

2.58 a gallon this evening.   Local to me Costco..  

Propane place I use, still $3.95 a gallon when I fill the BBQ  tank.  Cheaper per gallon than the self serve sorta deals at Lowes or Home Depot.

$2.87 at the station that is always a nickle higher.  Yesterday they were 2 cents less than everyone else for whatever reason.  Didn't get to Costco, but they tend to be 4 cents less that the rest.
