Today we had GPster, MikeJ, Moose, Fatcat, and me, Plus my brother and a couple other guys kibitzing. We did some rust repair in several spots on the cowl, and one quarter window frame. We refined some of the areas we had worked before, but had not finished. We made a new lower winshield frame, and welded it into the cowl. We repaired the top flange on the left quarter panel. Tomorrow we are going to try to get the cowl final mounted so we can start on the roof

Looks good!  I'll have to see about stopping by on our way through there next June to see it.

As Frank stated most of the work today was detail stuff. Cleaning up welds making and installing patches and planning the continuation of the chop.....

It's 8:30 am and 39*F. Supposed to get up to 50 today with a mix of sun and clouds. We may need you to send us some AZ heat before this is over.

Sunday we had MikeJ, GPster, 39 Deluxe, Danimal and his sons Court and Eli, Fatcat and Shelby, and me.

We picked up where we left off yesterday, finished the grinding on the cowl, set in place, and welded it in. Then we finished the quarter windows, and welded them in. We also got the new roof edge welded into place on both sides. We are ready to install the roof.

We also installed Bear Claw latches on both doors, we still have to install the latch pins, and fabricate handles and linkage.

Fun stuff, I wish I lived close enough to participate.  Looks like a fun time and I know I'd learn a bunch.

Is the roof going to get welded on now,
or after the cage is done ?

I am thinking now. The body is wider at the bottom than it is at the top, so it should be no problem lifting it on and off for cage fitting. Unless you are thinking of something I have not thought of.

Nope, just considering possibilities.
I've seen it done both ways.

Thanks Frank for a great weekend and to your family for making us feel right at home. We ended up driving all the way home Sunday. Thanks for teaching me how to used the the shrinker/ stretcher, Frank. I thought I had it mastered on the first piece. Most of the metal work was new to me so Frank let me sand welds  It was good to meet some more people from the Forum. I think we made good progress on the car but there's plenty left for the next build day. Join in if you can.  I did learn that Frank has alot of tools and I need more and I should visit harbor freight because that where they keep them.

You need a heavier foot by about 100#. Metal working involves more than bending sheet metal for heating ducts. There is an art to it and the thing I'm best at is watching. GPster
