Barring Something unforseen, the RRT will be shutting down at the end of the month. There are several reasons, but the biggest one is lack of participation. The post count has been going down steadily for some time now, and at this point 5 posts is a big day. So, rather than let it fade out, we will just end it.

This has been on my mind for some time now. I have made friends that I will value for the rest of my life. I am doing it with a heavy heart.

I will still have the BBQ at Kzoo in sept, and I will be in contact with several of you in the next couple weeks to settle loose ends.

Feel free to contact me.

Ok, I've been cogitating on this abit.

I get the feeling that this is not an economic decision.

If it was economics, I'm sure you could do a donation drive and get the money.

Guess I don't quite understand why the number of daily posts is a determiner of keeping the forum alive.

You all know I could and would host this or a similar forum if desired.

So that offer is on the table.

Just not sure how everyone would feel about me doing it.

I know some other members here also have the expertise to setup and run a forum like this, so maybe someone else might step up.

I also know if it got turned over to Ryan I probably wouldn't come and continue to post.

Guess we'll see how this goes.

ok, wtf did I miss?

fwiw, i haven't been posting cuz i ain't had anything to say, that, and while i still have my coupe, it's not a priority although i HAVE been collecting parts for it.
my interest HAVE changed a bit (rambler drag car) but i still chk in here..
The last thing I want to do is hurt you. But it\'s still on my list

I'm sorry to see it shutting down also, as this is the first site I check more than once a day also.  I, too, have been away from my project for too many years, due to injuries, moving and setting up the new house and shop.  I'd be all for Carnut running it if he wants to...

where does this put the group race car and money invested?

Sell off the parts or perhaps a member is interested in a buy out of investors?

Some guys have more than money invested, they have time & travel  into the build

This indeed is a shock .... being from Oz we owe Frank so much , although not publicised he goes out of his way to be of assistance to aussies whether it be sourcing and on sending parts or driving a zillion miles to help out a couple of lost souls and of course giving us a place to call home in our time of need , something i'll never forget.

I have made many friends via here , the late Off Off comes to mind as does 58 Yeomans who checked out a car for me some time ago, which i appreciated greatly.

I'm hoping Carnut can keep this site alive as it's always been such a pleasant place to visit unlike many others.

If indeed it does close i'd like to thank the two Frank's who've made ths a great site which i do check daily .... true Hotrodders.

Thanks ..... Mike  aka TJ's Dad.

I am not against someone else taking it over. Truth is we were contacted about a take over about 5 months ago, but it didn't work out. Mainly because they wanted to keep the current administrators, but there were other issues too.

Finances are not really a problem, we have it set up to run pretty economically. As you may have noticed, no fund drives for some time. As I would run into a member here and there, they would slip me a few bucks for the site, enough to keep it going.

I also realize that summer traffic is normally down, I have no problem with that. But while doing a search a few weeks ago, it struck me how many people are no longer posting, from just the last two years. So  I did a survey of the last 4 years, and the trend is steadily down. Our traffic is down by a factor of 4 from what it was 3 years ago.

The board has been up now for nearly 11 years. Maybe it's just time for a change at the top. Someone with some new, or at least different ideas.

For those of you invested in the RRT racer, parts, or money, You are the loose ends I was referring too. You are the ones to decide what to do with it. If someone takes over the board, I have no problem continuing the build. If you want to liquidate, I am fine with that too.

After this much time, both Fatcat and I are out of ideas.  Also as some of you know, I have had some personal issues in the last few years that have taken up a bunch of energy and time. Things are looking up on that front, I think I can see the light.

I will be sorry to see this go.  I also check daily to see what is going on, and in my case, since I am so far away from the majority, this is the only way I have of communicating with all.  I am sorry that I have not been doing my share, but for the last 6 months or so, my life has been pretty much in the dumps, and just haven't had the energy to add to anything that is going on with all of you.

Same goes for me.  It's a classy forum with no B.S.; just good questions, & informative answers.  The pending shut-down is understandable, but truly sad.
