I am looking at a Saturn L200 for my daughter. The ad states that the car has a tow bar installed for towing behind a motorhome.  Is towing like that detrimental to the car? I wonder about the trans etc. being flat towed for great distances. the car has 95,000 miles on it and I worry that towing it might make that number meaningless.

EDIT:  After looking online it sounds like these L series Saturns are real P.O.S.  There's a timing chain issue, apparently very common on these. anyone have any experience with one?

I bought a new 2002, have 127,000 miles on it now & have never done anything to it (so far)

On one motorhome forum I look at, Saturns can be towed four down.
There are quite a few cars, suvs, etc. that can be towed that way. It will be in the owner's manual.

the dohc motors wear out the plastic on the guides...      the upper guides take about 2 hours...    the complete set .. about 6 hours.. on either motor...

and i have also heard ... from gm class... that saturn cars can be flat towed without damage...   but i don't know which models... or of the newer ones.

That was one of the big reasons old folks were buying the "younger crowd" cars, flat tow capability. My Trailblazer has that as well, just turn to switch too far on the AWD/4Hi/Lo switch and there is an N.

Escorts were another one and the Saturn Vue.

this is almost off thread... but newer range rovers actually have flat tow ability...   there is an empty fuse holder in the right door fuse box...  if you move any fuse to that locaton.. you can hear the electric motor in the transfer case unlock the front and rear drives...    park won't even work when that fuse is in...

just thought i would add that.. i have had to trouble shoot one that would not move... the tech had put a fuse in the empty holder...
