Quote from: "enjenjo"The Speedway Flasher unit is not real high quality, so the pilot light circuit may be defective. Also, the body of the turn signal switch has to have a good ground for the pilot to work. I have installed several of them. Had some problems with them too.

We found some new old stock flashers that worked fine for $1 a piece.  The next time you are here, I need to take you to a couple of places that you will find very interesting.

I'm ready

If a blind person wears sunglasses, why doesn\'t a deaf person wear earmuffs??

Quote from: "enjenjo"There currently is no US manufacturer of 6 volt flashers. The ones Speedway and the others are selling are made off shore, and are junk. In my experience, about 1/2 of tem won't work at all. I have been picking up NORS flashers at swap meets for the last couple years, TungSol or Wagoner mostly. But they are getting scarce.

It would be simple enough to make a flasher that will function happily on 6v and 12v, pos or neg earth, and also run a dash light.  But is there a market for such an item in the US, and what price could it retail?  The Aus market would be about one per year.

Sitting here at 4:30 am unable to sleep.  Did a Yahoo search on ' "6 volt" flasher ' and got a bunch of responses.

I don't know if this puppy is what you are looking for but it looks like one to me http://shop.store.yahoo.com/dratv/6voflblun.html  .

There were a bunch of forum posts from folks looking for 6 volt flashers.  Couple of promising solutions; VW 6 volt flashers available from specialty suppliers and 6 volt motorcycle flashers.

My solution would be pulling the old wiring out and installing a negative ground rewire kit with all the essentials, you know, small block, overdrive auto, disc brakes, base clear coat paint, UltraLeather seat covers and headliner, AM/FM, CD player, air conditioning, etc.

that one would probably work on some systems, but a lot of the older systems require a three prong flasher without a rewire job.
