Crosley, how many channels did you have  to choose from back then ?  We had 3 channels back then and one was all french language . Only had to be better than the show on the other channel and you were watching  . Remember talking about last nights show at school ? It gave you something to talk about as everyone saw the same show . Our channels signed off air after about midnight.

Same here... back in the day we had 3 or 4 channels.  Each one signed off each night to a test pattern after the USA National anthem was played.

We also had a local PBS channel that was hard to receive. That channel signed on in the early 1960s... It was out of ASU college as I recall.

I remember watching the Dragnet show often.  I was young then.  In today's world I watched a few episodes and it was almost painful to watch.  I checked and the show received many accolades  and Jack Webb did too.  Kinda weird to see Harry Morgan not playing the Col on M*A*S*H

Same reason Bewitched was popular despite Agnes Moorehead. The star was popular on radio before TV came out. Only reason Cannon was a show is Bill Conrad was radio Marshall Dillon. Harry Morgan was the only reason to watch Dragnet. To see what the wife put in his tackle box. Jack Webb was an enthusiastic cigarette pusher, thats where his success was. Cop radio shows gained popularity with "Gang Busters" which was "live". Everything radio carried over onto TV as a starting point for the new media.

Discussion on newer TV shows..  I got hooked on Young Sheldon a few years ago. The story lines there fit into my growing up in the 1960s and 70s. Not all in one household tho.

I had a friend in grade school that his mom was like the Mary character mom to Sheldon. My friends mom was "Jimmy this, Jimmy that,,,  Jimmy is amazing, Jimmy is better" When I got better test score grades than Jim, His mom would comment that I must have been "lucky" with an under tone of that I cheated.

Another friend's mom was VERY religious .. I was asked (told) to "not come back to their house"..

As I watched my first few episodes of Young Sheldon .. I kept saying : "Yeah , that happened, that mom was like that.. that friend;s sister was like Sheldons.. LOL

Been watching (again) re-runs of Parking Wars show.  It mostly follows PPA personnel in Philadelphia  Pennsylvania.  The excuses ppl come up with on parking tickets and vehicles that are towed is fun to listen to.

Some shows are filmed in Detroit... A few in Road Island town.

On the flip side , I hope Penn has restructured some of their local laws since this show aired 10-12 years ago.  Some of the hoops they make ppl jump thru is ridiculous.  Some of the citizens go to traffic court as required. The judge hands down a decision to them.  Back at the tow lot the PPA officers there say "No" that is wrong and send the citizen back to court.

When the part on booting cars for non payment of parking tickets, all the drama comes out. Its fun to watch the excuses or when ppl drive off with a boot attached to a wheel.
