Quote from: "R&C Guy"You've all heard from Denise, Jack, Bob and Corey about what a good time they had. Next year it could be you. The R&C web site should have the entry form up shortly but it's also in the March issue as well as the April issue which will be out soon. Don't be shy, send it in. BobK is looking for someone to ride with again.

We're looking into having it somewhere around or in Texas this year so you wont have to deal with too many of us SoCal types.

Kevin
Your odds are better than in the Lottery and you can't play unless you buy a ticket.

Kevin - Taking Bob's lead maybe R&C should start an Ego-Rama mentoring program and have 2005 participants be co-pilots for 2006.

Rodder's Roundtable / Congrats to 47Forvette

Denise - Thanks for posting the scan.  The R&C guys did a great job and everone's rod looks awesome, and the Editorial and Event coverage captured the essence of the week.

Enenjo and Bob K.  Thanks for the kudos.  Kevin's photos are so cool I keep forgetting that its my car.  I'v read several articles that say that the best time to take pictures of a car is at dusk, and Kevin took these when the sun had gone past the horizon.

Quote from: "phat rat"here's the one of the slide. Didn't flat spot them braking but sure scuffed the devil out of the edges from doing the slolam
That was one of my favorites too.  When I grow up I want to go to work taking photos for a car magazine.  Wait a minute, I don't want to grow up.

I think this pic is indicative of how much heart everyone put into driving their rods.  What a wild ride it was.

Rodder's Roundtable / DUPONT SINGLE STAGE PAINT PROBLEM
October 21, 2005, 10:34:52 PM
I just wanted to check and see if anyone has had a problem color sanding and polishing Dupont single stage paint.  A buddy of mine just painted a car white, and when he started polishing it after several rounds of meticulous color sanding it appeared that the coats of paint did not blend together.  The paint rep called it "rings" and said it was some times an issue with their white and light blue.  Anybody else have this or a similar experience???

Quote from: "HotRodLadyCrusr"That photo is GREAT!  and the caption even better!

Cory, it was wonderful to finally meet you in person.  Your wife is AWESOME.  My family enjoyed spending time with the both of you.  Sitting down together over dinner that one nite and getting to know each other was one of the highlites of the trip cuz it's all about the people for me.  Without giving away too much info, your '47's nimble-ness was a pleasent surprise and a real pleasure to watch, not only at California Speedway, but during the whole 7 day roadtrip.  I sure hope our paths cross again in the future.  I have plenty of room here at the house.  You and Judy are welcome anytime.

Likewise Denise.  You made every day a "Bright" day for us.  Judy definitely had more fun than she expected and I'm really glad she hung with us at the Speedway rather than going to the Mall.  Your definitely a people person and your parents were a joy.  We looked forward to the updates of your trip home.  Bummer about the spark plug.  After we left Boyd's we went to Jim's dad's house and checked out all of his cooool stuff (there will be pictures on the CD when I send it to you), then bought some new "ROUND" rubber for the front.  THen we met some friends for dinner a Ricky and Ronnie's Diner in Torrance (it was on a R&C cover a couple of months back).  Friday we got up and cruised to Pismo Beach and stayed with some of Judy's old neighbors who moved to a better neighborhood (Ocean View) before making the sprint back to SacTown.  All in all it was a once in a lifetime adventure for us (unlike that lucky double-dipping Bob K) with a whole slew of good memories and stories.

Which has more patina, Don Dillard's roadster or BoB K after 10 days on the road at the NHRA Cruise Night during the Ego-Rama?

Rodder's Roundtable / pics of my new ride

Love It!!! But then again I a little impartial since I'vd got a 47 coupe.  It looks like it has good bones and already has an excellent stance.  I think the 46-48 dashes are just awesome,  How about another side shot and a look under the hood?

Rodder's Roundtable / Hydraulic brake booster
September 15, 2005, 09:06:06 AM
I went to the hydraulic booster to gain more ground clearance over the *" double booster I originally installed.  One Saturday we were pulling into the garage with the trunk full of cases of wine and other libations, in preparation for our wedding reception, and the lip of the vacum booster caught on an edge of concrete.  It came apart and I was playing bumper cars with my tool chest and washing machine.   Love those emergency brakes!!  I tried the 7" double booster after that and I was not satisfied with the braking performance, so tried the hydraulic and am very pleased.

Quote from: "phat rat"My 02 Silverdo 2500 HD has the hydraboost system. I really don't like it. The pump shaft broke and guess what, no brakes or power steering. Imagine what that could have been like if it had happened when I was pulling my 30' travel trailer downhill  through the Rockies.  I was lucky it happened right in my driveway.

Do the systems that came on your truck have a reserve cannister?  I have a "Hydratech" brake assist on my 47, and it has a reserve canister that  that is supposed to be good for two to three brakings after loss of the power steering pump.   There web site is:
http://www.hydroboost.com/

They have some links to some videos with a guy in a 70 doing panic stops.

Actually, either before 11:45 or after 1:15 or so.  All that wrenching makes a fella hungry.

Hey Slocrow, Thanks.  My wife Judy was born in Cleveland, and her parents hail from there.  You know any Svoboda's or Loves???
