As we close the door on 2017, Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy New Year! My 2017 started out fine but didn't finish so well.In November ,I had a mild stroke.....everything turned out fine with no permanent damage.During the testing done to determine the cause,it was discovered that I had several blocked arteries.I was wisked off to surgery at which time they tried unsuccessfully to balloon and stint the problem areas.I was told that I needed immediate open heart bypass surgery and that they also detected a problem with a valve in my heart.A day later I was in Sioux Falls So. Dakota having surgery. 6 bypasses and a valve adjustment later, I am on the road to recovery. It is amazing what those surgeons can do.....he says things turned out well and that with a change in diet and losing a few pounds, I should have a few good years left! 2018 has got to be better!

Charlie.......when are you arriving at the 50's? Where are you staying? We are planning on being there from around lunch time on Friday thru Saturday late afternoon/early evening. We are staying in Brooklyn Center which is a bit North and West of the Fairgrounds. Not sure at this point if I'll be driving one of the cars up or just spectating.Would love to catch up with you.......maybe for dinner Friday night? Have a safe trip and if it is of any benefit.......we have plenty of room for guests if you're coming anywhere close.

Rodder's Roundtable / Car Club Website
December 04, 2016, 09:54:07 PM
Thanks guys for all the help. George......The set up with Hemmings is exactly what we are looking for. The Corvette Club site is nearly identical to what our club was looking for so will probably use that as a template. I am just finishing up a large custom home for a customer and am about 1/2 way complete with our new home so don't have a bunch of time to dedicate to the project......This will make it MUCH easier!

Rodder's Roundtable / Car Club Website

Thanks for the suggestions. The facebook thing was brought up but most of our members are not on facebook and most won't join.It has been explained to me and sounds simple but our members are mostly older and refuse to have anything to do with facebook. They want an actual website.

Our local car club has decided to step into the current century and set up a website. Our problem.......None of our members are even remotely capable of creating one.So.....Thought I'd ask if anyone has a suggestion for a source to get this accomplished.Don't need anything to elaborate, just the basics. Thanks!

Rodder's Roundtable / Kool Deadwood Nights
September 03, 2016, 12:26:07 PMQuote from: "Okiedokie"We attended two or three years ago. Cant really say the "show" aspect of it impressed me, but we had a great time touring the area. The Sunday morning cruise thru town was wild. Cops promoting burnouts with the crowds feet away was surprising to say the least. Friendly, smiling, cops at that. The Sat eve concert with all the chairs set up on the main street was wild also. It comes across as an event put on by the Chamber of Commerce and not a car club, which it is. Other than one of our group hitting a deer and totaling his 37, we had a great time. I would do it again.
I agree.....Was not impressed by the lack of organization regarding the car event. We also had a great time doing other things.....We go to the hills nearly every summer but my buddy hadn't been there for over 40 years. The drunks walking down main street with open containers reminded me of Bourban street in the french quarter. The bands were extremely loud and bad and how anyone found their chairs in that mess was amazing. Will definitely go back to the hills but won't make it a point to be that weekend.

Looks like another unplanned delay with work so I'm heading out to the Black Hills early morning to attend Kool Deadwood Nights.......Anyone else planning to attend? This is an event I've never attended but have had friends tell me it is awesome so thought I'd check it out.The grandson has started back to college but doesn't have class tomorrow so it worked out great for both of us.
