Rodder's Roundtable / Re: NASCAR in LSR
August 22, 2013, 09:49:32 PM
Quote from: "Beck"As Wayne said there are many NASCAR cars at Bonneville and other LSR events, like the Ohio Mile. They are fast, but at Bonneville they do NOT fall into a class. They race Time Only (TO). There is no record in the book for these cars. I think the ECTA (Ohio Mile and others) may have a class for them. Someone hopefully will post with that info.

Yes, the ECTA has classes for the NASCAR cars and run several based on engine and fuel.  At the Ohio Mile you will normally see Ron Keselowski, uncle of Brad Keselowski along with others like Dave Marcus, Al Piggott and a few more running in excess of 200 in the mile.  Ron is currently taking another run at Bonnelville which as Beck stated correctly does not have any classes for these cars.  Ron has been pushing for a class at Bonneville and hopes to see one soon.

Rodder's Roundtable / Hastings Fiberglass Body.
September 04, 2007, 08:27:30 PM
Saw this posting and thought I could help.  I bought a 32 3W coupe body from Hastings in 99 and completed the car in 01 shortly after Don Hastings passed away.  They were located in Sessler IL and I know several companies were interested in the molds but the last I heard his widow still had them.  It was a unique company in that they were not interested in producing volume but more interested in quality, to the point that he redid my fenders a couple of times because they did not pass his muster.  He did not advertise except at the Louisville Nationals where he claimed he picked up enough to keep him and one employee busy.

Anyway, the car has been on the road since 01 and is well used and travelled.  I have no quality issues at all, the car was painted black so some work went into the body prior to paint but not more than would be expected.  Car has steel reinforcement and is sound.  So after 7 years on the road, I would still recommend the Hastings body.

Good Luck
