Magna Steyr gets credit for building it for GM, but AAT of Michigan
is the real builder of them.
Here is a photo of the first story that was in MOTOR TREND.

But were both wondering all that work and you still have door handles??

Debb --Every custom I built always looked like a custom.  This time
I decided I wanted to do something different -- a theme car.  I finally
came up with the idea -- What if the general mnager of the Buick
division of GM told his stylist in 1956 that he wanted a concept vehicle
based on the design of the 57 Buick and have it ready for the New York
Auto Show.  If it was to look like it came out of the Buick styling
department that meant no Packard taillights, no frenched headlights,
and no electric doors.  By the time I had decided how I was going to
build the Buick I had already filled in the door handle holes on the
driver's side.  Luckily, I hadn't done the passenger side, so I could use
those holes to make a template. Now you know why it still has door
handles  I have a lot more ideas for this theme, so it will still be a
long time before it's completed.

Don
The windshield and 3 piece rear window were both sunk.
This was done by cutting a slot in the metal edge at the
bottom of the glass so that it can slide through.  Make new
brackets to hold in place.  The only new glass that had to
be cut was the rear quarter window and the vent window
glass.  The door glass remains stock and has a stopper
to prevent the glass from being rolled up too far.

WOW  -- 3 WOWs ---Wow is one of my favorite words. A friend
of mine has dyslexia says WOW is one of the few words he can
read and feel like a normal person.

         thanks for all the WOWs

Debb -- Still lots of work on the Buick and haven't decided yet
on which car shows we'll go to this summer.
Mention to Rob  at the Gilmore car show a couple of years
ago  I  told him that I was chopping a 57 Buick -- his
response was "Why would you do that?"

Bill, that is awsome!!!!  SHOWOFF!!!    Hope to see that someplace this summer.  Billetproof?
I don't know if you remember me, but back in 99 (I think) at the Merc Duece Reunion, we met you and your wife in Des Moines, we talked to you at length about the interior in your Merc!!  We had just built the Lincoln and were looking to get the interior done.

The Buick is so cool, I have always loved that body style!!

If I remember right you and Rob were judges for KKOA in Davenport
and awarded my 53 Merc Best Interior for the show.
