Rodder's Roundtable / What are you doing today ? 2019
January 06, 2019, 03:16:44 PM
In between a major bathroom reno and working on the '51 Vicky.
I'm putting new master cylinder and pedal under the floor. I will need a proportioning valve.
I was told to get a good used one as the aftermarket ones are not that good.
What could be wrong with a ew one?
Also, how do I plumb the brake lines? Disc/drum combo.
Is there a drawing available?
Thank you for any and all info.

Up here, north of 49, it's +6C. Or about 40F. No snow yet this year.
But we had a heck of a wind storm almost 2 weeks ago. There are still some places with no power.
Big trees knocked down taking wires and poles with them.
I got lucky. Power stayed on.

Astute observation,,, chum. I have some Bat-Ding-Repellant-Spray in my utility belt...

If it turns up in my stall, I'll just have to defib and start an IV then send it to Rampart via ambulance for Dr Early and follow in the red Dodge.    (somebody will get that but can they name the show?) "EMERGENCY"
Serious now... I wonder if 3M still has any rolls of woodgrain.

Imagine it in green flake. With "Aunt Bea's Cannabis Dispensary" on the side, and some dope 36" pot leaf rims doin some 3 wheel motion.

For real, nothing was said. I know No-thing, Colonel Klink.  Sounds like the steering was never used but has to go. Theres a Fatman kit boss likes. "Kit"... Whats the collective RRT solution? I believe the job right now is just inspect and advise.

Tell yourself that it weighs 5,000 lbs.
Then rig it for that.
No worries.

I remember seeing a mechanic tying pan gaskets on with thread.

Quote from: "chimp koose"Wonder how long before it runs into a Saturn ? Probably gets roasted by a Sunfire ! Wonder how many Galaxies it passes ? Ford should have launched a space Probe long ago ! It will be overtaken by all the Satellites out there . Jeez , I'm on a roll

Watch out for that Comet....
Wasn't there a Star and a Moon out there back in the Twenties?
It did get past those low flying Falcons and Hawks.

Quote from: "40 Chev Coupe"Might be a stupid question, but how do you dispose of the old anti freeze?

I don't know about the rest of Canada, but out here in BC, we are more environment friendly.

I hope he got that car cheap.
I do like the bar with the adjustable pointers. It's better than trying to use a tape measure and one person can do it.

I ran into the same thing. SAE heads on Metric bolts.
It was way back when GM was changing from SAE to Metric.
Maybe around 1980?

The GMC motorhome boys check for leaks by putting a big fan inside and running soapy water over the unit.

Rodder's Roundtable / A Thank You ......

Quote from: "58 Yeoman"Thanks, guys! 8)

We had bought a new 4 slice toaster at Menards back in March. It died a couple days ago; we hardly use it, mostly on Sundays. We returned it to Menard's and they gave us another just like it. Literally. Brand new, it was just as bad as the other one. We got a refund and went to Bed Bath & Beyond and found a different brand, and got a 25% Veteran's discount. Hope it works better than the other.

Check the wattage? when buying a new toaster. Some are so low they barely heat the bread.

Quote from: "enjenjo"I was having a problem with premature bulb failure. A electrician buddy checked out my system, and found a bad ground connection at the load center. He fixed it, and the bulb problems went away.

Good point, Frank.  I went through our panel a couple of years ago, found a few loose screw terminals.

I worked as an elevator installer, maintenance mechanic. In the main line disconnects I was always checking and tightening screw
connections. Connections that are not tight will create resistance. Aluminum wire is the worst.
