John, did Bill and the guys from Gravett make it back up?

Hey John, it sounds like it was a fun day in spite of the cooler weather. I wish I could have been there. My son was home on leave and we spent the weekend with him (hadn't seen him for two years)!

Quote from: "WZ JUNK"Some of you have been to MOKAN to the HAMB Drags and you might find this thread on the MOKAN site interesting.  http://www.mokandragway.com/cgi-bin/iB301/ikonboard.cgi?s=421019d3fd6dffff;act=ST;f=1;t=1444

In one of the post it talks about Garlits running against a jet car in 1982.  My wife and I were there with are little girl and my wife said today she remembers holding her hands over our daughters ears.  The old strip has a lot of history.

John that really brings back a lot of memories. Carol and I were there the night Garlits ran against Shockley. It was awesome! We spent most of the night in the pits just watching Don and his crew wrench on the Swamp Rat.   :)

The ones I saw in the sale flyer were on the order of $20. for the one like you pictured and one that was flatter for $15. I wish I could remember which store it was. I really like what you made. That is really cool.

Yes, they are still made. I saw an ad for the same fixtures as you show in the picture recently. I don't remember if it was Atwoods or Tractor Supply Co. Both stores are farm and home type retailers.

John did you try Riediger in Diamond?

It looks like the PC7 from Eastwood is the way to go for filling the cracks. This may be a pretty basic question, but what is the best paint for a steering wheel?

A friend gave me a 1950 F1 steering column with wheel to use in my rod. The steering wheel has several cracks in the rim that are about a quarter inch or so wide. What is the best material/method to use to fill these up and refinish the wheel? My friend said he has used Bondo many times with good results. Also, what kind of paint do you recommend? Some of you may have seen this post on the HAMB already.

I am the Director of Transportation for a growing manufacturing firm. We maintain a private fleet in Neosho, MO (hometown of WZ Junk) and have just opened a distribution center in Cedar Rapids, IA where we have a fleet also. I live in Neosho with my wife of 26 years and our soon-to-be 15-year-old daughter. We have a son in the Navy, stationed at Bremerton, WA. I own a '31 hiboy that was built years ago. It used to be a coupe, but has had the roof removed to make a poor man's roadster. I hope to have the car rolling this year. In my spare time I like to flyfish and camp.
