Quote from: "SKR8PN"Would you please offer them up for my Mother? She had a massive stroke early this morning. Carotid artery is 100% blocked. Doctors aren't giving us ANY good news.............73 years is not long enough.

 You've got it.

I want to thank all of you for your kind thoughts and words. You don't know how much that means when life throws you a train wreck........
Moms condition is what they call "stable" no improvement, but no worse either. She can answer questions, knows who every one is and still has her sharp wit! My sisters and I, are meeting with the doctors again today,to answer some questions we have and to plan our next steps.
Thanks again boys and girls.

When you and your sisters talk add a rehabilitation facility to the list of nursing homes and assisted care facilitues. There is one around Pittsburg (probably a lot more than that). The head priest from our parish (the right terminology escapes me) had a massive stoke last year and went up there after a lengthy hospital stay. He is now back at our parish staying in his retirement. I know of one such facility that took a comatose TBI patient. He had been in a State University Teaching Hospital for a month and the specialist there had recommended  that he be put in a rest home to pass the time to the end.  He is now living a somewhat free, uncomplicated life with his main problem being that he doesn't type too fast and he has some battles with depression. Well, that sounds like good news to me, and it's a step in the right direction!

I refrained from responding to your original post until you gave us more news.  ....These incidents can go either way.   .....  However, you were in my thoughts.

Best wishes to your Mom for a complete and timely recovery!

Don't let your Mom give up hope of complete recovery!   .....I knew a woman who had a massive stroke and lost her speech, was 80% paralyzed, and had no control of bodily functions.   ....She said that frustration was her greatest enemy, and that she was determined to regain control of her body.  .....It took approx two years, but she recovered COMPLETELY, and had no residual effects from the stroke.

I'm hoping to hear more good news about your Mom!
