Rodder's Roundtable / I feel violated
November 28, 2006, 05:03:48 AM
It happens the word over, our power company just cut back a tree in front of my place because it was within 15ft of the powerlines.   15Ft underneath and to the side does not seem like its going to cause any trouble for a few years yet.

Rodder's Roundtable / So what has everybody been up to?
December 04, 2005, 05:49:10 AM
If you had told me 12 months ago that I would be retired now I would have laughed at you.
But here I am, shifted house, sitting sipping on a Bookers, driving my 32 more often than its been driven before(you have to know that I have had the car for some 39 years)
Now I 'm also babysitting for my lovely daughter Joanne, she has just asked me to look after her 51 Studebaker 2 door for a while.
I have now also got a 26' aliyumyum cruiser on the Lakes moored some 50 yards from my front door.
Some great mates close by.
Why the hell I didn't do this years ago I don't know.

Quote from: "Carps"It's my Pal 'Nobby's' 60th birthday this weekend so I spent a few nights doing this for his gift.  A bottle of quality bourbon packed inside should make him a happy camper.   Probably throw the box away with the wrapping.

I think I found what was in the box

Quote from: "parklane"I think what we need here is a English - Aussie translation dictionary. Some of the words/phrases that we're getting on this board now are difficult to decipher If some of our "southern" friends could help us out here , it would be appreciated :D  :D
John

You mean something like this

The area is great, I'm 50yards from my own jetty(half share anywy) up Chinamans Creek. Straight after building a decent shed to put the roadster in I'll be looking for a boat to cruze around in.

Rodder's Roundtable / New T-shirt design?
March 01, 2005, 12:41:13 AM
Quote from: "Jahoota"Looking pretty good.  I can see a few heading downunder!

Yeah, but they would have to be printed upside down.

If you guys want you could fill the BBQ trailer with shirts and send it downunder during the off season. I'm sure we could make good use of it whilst handing out the shirts.

Hi All,
I'm back for a bit.
After running the Melbourne Hot Rod Show in Melbourne at the end of January, I took a little break from rodding to catch up on some events happenng at home, only to tune in at the end of the big blow up.
I think that I was lucky because sometimes I have a big mouth and may have got myself into hot water, as it is I did not see any of the post that caused all the trouble.
For you Aussies that know me, I'll let you know what I'm up to.
I've finished with the Hot Rod Show as of this one and am shifting down Sparks way to Mertung, near Lakes Entrance. I have already taken posession of the house but am still waiting to sell my house( If any of you Yanks wanta little joint Down Under awith a large garage lets know
http://www.realestate.com.au/cgi-bin/rsearch?a=o&ag=&s=vic&c=74704346&tm=1109550234&id=102179872&f=0&p=10&t=res&ty=&snf=rbs&cu=&fmt=&header= I'm also in the middle of selling my business, so you can see things have been a bit busy at the moment.
I'm also trying to arrange the building of a garage from 300k away, (180 miles for the Yanks), My new next door neighbour( Slim Dusty) died last year so can't call on him to help, and now there is talk of shutting the local pub because of Land Tax. Hey Slim maybe the song "Pub With No Beer" could have been about Metung.
Good to see you all.

Rodder's Roundtable / Pakenham 2004
October 25, 2004, 09:45:24 PM
Quote from: "Pep"Did the rods have one last run down the strip, or did the power that be prevent it.....Looked like a good day.

No its just a cow paddock now, a bit too bumpy and lots of cow pats.

Eddy Thomas, John English, Bluey Wilson and some other old timers were there to chat with and sign autographs etc. and four or five cars that ran on the strip turned up.

First real sun for the season, lots of sunburn

Rodder's Roundtable / Pakenham 2004

Back in the late 50's and early 60's at Pakenham, just out of Melbourne Down Under there was Victorias first drag strip. It lasted only a few years before moving to Fishermans Bend. It had a concrete start pad and the rest was across the dirt.
Next month the padock where it all happend is going to be dug up as the onramp to a new freeway.
My club, the Thunderbirds decided to have a small picnic gathering before the site dissapeared, about 150 cars rolled up send the strip on its way.
Here are a few pics of some of the event.
We thought Carps might turn up but he's probably resting for the big picnic next weekend about 1/2 a mile down the road.

Rodder's Roundtable / Speedometer cable adapter needed

I've use one on my daughters Stude.
Just be careful you get the right one, the first sold to us reversed the direction. Took us ages to work out what was wrong, checking trans drive gears etc etc. It wasn't until we went on a long trip, she pulled up next to me laughing her head off.  Saying how good her car was, she had travelled 50 miles less than when we left.
