Rodder's Roundtable / welder problems
January 13, 2006, 10:05:39 AM
a buddy of mine (does a lot of body work) was going to trash his mig and buy a new one........he came down to see if he'd like my sp125 lincoln....."yep, I'm gonna buy one just like it!)

well, he got to talking to his dad about how crappy his century welded......his dad asked him how long the spool of wire had been in there......it had been in there MANY years.....doing body work, he doesn't burn it up as fast.......

he bought a new spool of wire and it welds like a new one......i guess some small oxidation had formed on the wire....try that!

congrats to your buddy!

yep, those taxes really hurt a guy.....ole' Petejoe on the HAMB won that yellow RPU from a show in KY........I think he sold one of his cars just to pay the taxes on it........he sold it recently, though, I'm sure he came out way ahead..........good for him!!

Rodder's Roundtable / Re: q about mags....

go with the 8n...easier to drive with the clutch on one side and BOTH brakes on the other....

i think the 8n has another gear too....

fastest way to identify an 8n........look at the rear wheel bolt pattern....8n is smaller in diameter and the 9n is MUCH larger....more towards the perimeter.....

kind of like ford's 36 style rims that are wide 5 vs. 40 rims that are just standard 5.5"

Quote from: "tomslik"so, we got any tractor jockies on here?
looking at a 9n with a  mag and 6 volt system, anything i ought to be aware of?

well, hell, it's got big and littles.....

I'm home now, I can post some pics...

still a lot of work to do.....

after I learn on my own that the rumble seat is useless, i'll Z the rear.....until then.......butt in the air!

eventually rake the winsheild, 8.00's on the rear, chop the shield some, etc.......work in progress...

Looks like a really good site.  I think I know most of you already.

Been a student of hot rodding for about 2 years (green) and I'm working on an AV8.

Hope to learn a lot and help when I can....
