Rodder's Roundtable / Anyone going to the Turkey Run?
November 12, 2007, 01:07:16 PM
Anyone going to the Turkey Run in Daytona over Thanxgiving?  If you are, post a pic so I can spot ya!
I'll be there sans hot rod on business in a Dodge dually...how unexciting.  At least I get to go though!

Some of you may have seen my post last week asking about Rajo conversions, well, I took the plunge and bought the car.  Here is the story....

After looking at it Friday night I discovered it was in fact a 235ci truck engine.  There had been a 216ci in it at sometime but it is now a 235ci.
It is a complete Rajo conversion with both the head and intake.
After hearing the crack of her splits Friday night I knew I had to have her.  I brought her home Saturday.
Here is a pic of me and the former owner with her:

Here is a picture of her, "Black Beauty" as he called her:

And here is the part of her I love the most:

She was built 28 years ago so she is little dated.  I plan to lower it some and get rid of the etched windows, the period correct mural, the yellow traction bars and put some stock wheels and tires on her.

One of the things I liked best was the stock appearance of the dash and the interior as a whole.  The seats are a little furry but way too comfy to change:

Here are some more pictures...

Rodder's Roundtable / Rajo 216ci conversion-- rare?
October 19, 2007, 12:04:13 PM
have been offered a '53 Chevy 2dr post sedan with a 216ci Six with a Rajo conversion. I had heard of Rajo intakes and heads for 4 bangers but never for a Six. The only info I can find is on Speedy Bill's museum website here:
http://www.museumofamericanspeed.com/Collections/Engines/EngineHALGrpThumbs.shtml

http://www.museumofamericanspeed.com/Collections/Engines/AllAlphaE033.shtml

The car is solid and straight but I really don't have much interest in it. I would probably end up switching out the motor and selling it.

SO, who knows about Rajo conversions? Is it really as rare on this 216 as it seems it is in internet land? Anyone have a value on something like this?

It is a really neat set up. I just really need to justify to myself if it is worth buying yet another car.

This is a disease and we are all sick.

I've been a member of this site for awhile but hadn't gotten around to posting an intro.  So here goes....

I'm a car loving gal from Northern Ohio who grew up building hot rods and customs with my dad.  I like a little bit of everything as long as it is pre-'69.  I've been a drag racer for the past 10 years but am on a little hiatus for now.  Right now I'm building a '48 GMC with a 401ci Nailhead out of a '63 Riviera.  It should be on the road sometime in late March or early April.  I have a pretty deep love for land speed racing and early salt flats/land speed history.  I'm a pretty traditional mid-western girl and I like my hot rods the same!

I've noticed a few familiar "faces" on here from the HAMB and also have met a few of you at shows.

HotRodLadyCrusr encouraged me to post my intro and get contributing! And hey, if you let Breeder in anyone must be welcome!

And while I have your attention...
I'm hosting a metal working/fabrication workshop that the legendary Gene Winfield will be teaching here in Canton, Ohio on March 3rd and 4th, 2007 (the weekend before the detroit autorama).  The cost is $150 a day, $300 for the weekend, lunch included.  I also have special hotel rates with a host hotel here in Canton.
Class size is limited for this unique opportunity, act now!

Feel free to email me for more information or a registration form-- buddacar(at)aol.com.

Thanks, glad to be here!
