Rodder's Roundtable / Selling our stuff.
November 04, 2020, 09:51:32 AM
Hello;
Well, funny you all mention selling collections!
I just came to the realization that my Model Airplane Control Line stuff that I have had since I was 9 Years old, had to go!! First I asked myself "What would the wife do if I died and she was faced with this?" GIVE IT AWAY!!! She has no idea its worth!
So Im selling out to the empty boxes!!! Its kinda hard but I'll never be able to enjoy that again!!
I am also looking at other "collections" That need to be thinned out or all together GONE TOO!!
TIME TO SELL ALL FOR WHAT I CAN AND ENJOY THE MONEY!!!!
Recently sold my 1967 Olds Convertible and made an additional 3K more than what I paid for it!!!! YAHOO!! CASH!!!!
NEXT, My 57 Chevy!!!

Hello;
Are you talking about the Jaguar? Im not thinking that, but now that you mention it, It might kinda look that way until you really get to touchy/feely it up close! They make actually 3 different levels of that car.
Theres one with a Turbo 4 cylinder, Then there's the one with the supercharged 6 (380 hp!), and then the one Im looking at which is a supercharged 8 cylinder with 500 hp!!)
While I am looking, I see all these great deals, but when I "dig a little deeper" Theres a reason and mostly those cars (even some corvettes)that have Salvage/Rebuilt Titles!
So my plan, take my time and keep an eye pealed!! I'll end up with something super!

Quote from: "BFS57"Hello;
I was recently surprised to see that (on All Girls Garage) There has already been companies already making bolt on upgrades for the new C-8 in their case it was a new Borla Performance exhaust!

Bruce

I saw that too, they took that thing apart pretty good! I saw another one here a couple days ago, this one was white, but it had a dealer plate on it...from Kentucky. Beautiful graphite and blue interior.

Well, ever since the wife had to have a $$$$$ foreign car (Jaguar F Pace S!) she now wants a "sporty" car too!
I just sold my 67 Olds Cutlass Convert! Last month  so Im banking $$ for something, Been looking at the Jaguar F Type! but alas, Im just an old giezer with empty pockets and a hatred to give the State of California ANY $$$$!!!!

Rodder's Roundtable / Hunker Down

Hello;
I don't know about you but I have been quite happy with all the (PPE) supplies I have purchased recently on "that auction site".
I bought face shields, gloves, and masks! and I know time is of the essence so having all that shipped directly to my house saves me countless hours of frustration trying to go here and there and find empty shelves!!
Of course you may be part of a "school supply" wholesale/retail store that makes it easier!
"Just a suggestion".

The first of the year we traveled to Paris and UK! We stayed in Cornwall (really nice place) with the wife's Niece and her Husband and got the royal visitor treatment!! So far, not sick!!!! (Bay Area!)
NOW! The longer this bunch of Rotten EGGS goes on the more I find how BADLY our governing Bodies from the top to the bottom are Ill prepared and absolutely not willing to really make the right kind of "informed" decisions!!!!

Bruce

My Mother was from the Cornwall area. A war bride.

Yes, we had a really nice time there! Also Paris, we celebrated my wife's Birthday at the Penensulsa Paris Hotel which has an outstanding restaurant on the top. The Big Theme of this restaurant is a couple flyers that built a bi-plane and proceeded to fly to New York! I GUESS THEY NEVER MADE IT!? But there was an outstanding example of the (full sized) airplane outside on the roof and there was a really nice (Museum Quality) Engine that was made for that aircraft!Inside by our table!
Also had an outstanding View of the Eiffel Tower all lit up at nite!
The Service was absolutely great!!!

Rodder's Roundtable / Disc Brake Questions
March 23, 2020, 09:40:27 PM
Hello;
A bit ago I decided to update my 57 Bel Air with a complete Disc brake system. I looked around and went with a complete kit (ss lines and all) from Pirate Jack.
The car now has front and rear disc which are sloted and drilled and I now have a Willwood master (1" Bore) and a chrome 8" booster.
Everything is working pretty good with the exception of the rear brakes which are of the Caddy Sevelle style with the built in emergency brake! Now looking at my rear rotors, (drivers side) I see that the disc pads seem to come in full contact with the rotors per the wear pattern, but the Passengers side tells me something different. The pads seem to only be contacting the disc at about 2/3 on the rotors on that side.
I know that these calipers are a PIA to adjust, which I have looked at a bunch but cant do right now due to a lack of equipment (Don't ask, I got rid of mine) so now I cant tell why this is happening so Im asking all you folks to "throw out" some suggestions my way so I can better understand my problem here.
Thanks,
Bruce

Rodder's Roundtable / What are you doing today ? 2019
October 03, 2019, 10:56:43 AM
Hello;
When anything needs done (from the BOSS) I usually do it like our 2018 Jaguar F Pace. It had a previous owner in its computer, I got that taken care of, reset the computer, and then added her Bluetooth plus name in it and now Im trying to figure out how to download her complete music library (900 songs) into the hard drive in this car! (Car has a recordable hard drive)
Then next I have been "fiddling" and fiddling with the water feature we installed. First the pump had to be replaced with one that produces more flow, now too much flow, now not flowing enough, now needing adjusting! (ugh)
Then we had some local deer decide to invade our newly established rose bushes. That prompted me to "invent" something to handle that problem. The problem with that is I got an idea but don't know the source to get what I want to fix the problem, which would be a motion sensor hooked to a strobe light or a pre recorded sound of a dog barking!?
Have A Heart has a product called Deer Off which is these capsules of some kind of a blood product that triggers a run response in deer!? Had a couple nibblers but so far no real destruction!!
Too much of the before mentioned stuff to even think I had any time to work on or maintain cars!!!

Rodder's Roundtable / Online Repair Data Help Please..
September 25, 2019, 01:36:37 PM
Quote from: "Arnold"Thank You Very Much :D I really appreciate this.
I even went down to our library..USED to be a great source for car repair manuals etc., even some online stuff! Now: NO CAR REPAIR INFO., NONE NOTHING..print,online NOTHING  :cry:  Even our charities won't take any car related print.

Hello;
I have found that with my 1967 Olds, I cant seem to find too much out there and what is there is held by outside sources and they want you to empty your bank account to gain access.
My thoughts are that more and more older vehicles and some newer ones, will end up this way! Cant find anything out unless you "pay the price"!
Unless you know someone (arn't we lucky to have a veritable knowledge base from our membership!)

Hello;
With the info overload I had here is the magic trick that works "every Time"!!
First I got a screw extractor seated in the plug threads. This was done with 3/8" backwoods extension and a 3/8" Coupler.
Had done the PB Blaster all day yesterday! According to the info I got, You start your engine and let it idle (I got mine up to operating temp) Then spray a dab of PB in the area and I started wrenching and the darn thing came out!!!! According to the original poster, this has worked every time all the time!!
The power of information is incredible and helpful!!!!

Hello;
Well, I decided to change the spark plugs in my 08 Trailblazer! I had a 02 version of this vehicle before and didn't seem to remember any problems. That was then, this is now!!!! Got the first 4 plugs out with out any problem. (Now it gets difficult!)
If you arn't familiar with this engine, it's a straight six with the plugs on top, down about 3 inches or so in the engine head and the plug threads are very long! This one plug was harder and (you guessed it) the darn thing came out but broke off leaving the threads inside the head!!!! Lucky (if there is any in this situation) all the porcelain including the tip came out with the plug.
I looked at a couple u tube videos and they all used heat and freezing combined to loosen the part broken off but this is in about  the worst place for this kind of treatment!!!! Its located in the back of the engine where the firewall goes over the top of this area and it's difficult to wrench on because of limited space over the top of it!! I did get a set of screw extractors! but this plug was the only one (yup, got the one behind it out!??) that the end of the plug was very rusty??
I got some PB Blaster and intend to try with that next. (I only had wd 40)
Meanwhile, Im open to any helpful hints that anyone may have to lend me to help end this Nightmare!!!!
